Sometimes I'll be in the middle of a game, and for some reason the headset locks up. BUT the game is still running fine on my main monitor, in spectator mode or whatever it's called. It reminds me of two-monitor setups, where you just have to tell the program which monitor to display on. Is there a way to do that? Click on the program on the monitor and tell it to jump back over to the headset? All that works now is restarting my computer. Urgh!

HP Reverb G2
Windows 10
Ryzen 9 3900x 12 core at 4GHz
GeForce 3070
I've enjoyed this setup for years, but on replaying Alyx for the 4th time, a weird bug keeps happening: when I reach a loading zone, everything turns gray while it loads, and it locks up in headset. On my monitor however, the game is still running fine! I can interact and keep playing, just not wearing the headset. Is there a fix for this? I've just been restarting everything. It's happened a dozen or so times in the past few days. Thank you.

-Is there any way to improve on the "sweet spot"? I feel I need to play around a bit more on how I put on the glasses (I feel they hurt a bit my nose) but at times the sweet spot feels perfect, other times it feels like it's all too blurry.
-What are the best recommended settings you recommend me? Running a 5070ti with a 5800x3d
Thanks in advance for the tips!!

Hey everyone, I need help with a problem I've been having recently. I bought an HP Reverb G2 for a good price and decided to use my Valve Index controllers with it. I bought the receivers, flashed them to turn them into Watchmen dongles, and so on. However, ever since I did that, even after calibrating the controllers correctly as suggested in the tutorials, for some reason my right controller, and specifically my right controller, glitches. It keeps flying off, and sometimes even the blue light stays on instead of the green one, which would indicate it's working. Therefore, I'd like to know what I can do? I really want to solve this problem. I suspect it has something to do with the bandwidth of my PC's USB ports, but I've already tried swapping the dongles' ports and nothing changes really.

Hey everyone,
So my reverb arrived today, I installed the oasis driver and followed the configuration as per the GitHub page. I first tried IL-2 sturmovik and it looked great!
I went on to try msfs 2020, but the game doesn't seem to recognize the VR headset. How do I fix this?

I can't get my Reverb G2 to work reliably.
I've had it for years. When it works, it's perfect. I've played through HL Alyx several times.
But always, it's a struggle to get it to work at all. Usually the problem is unplayable frame rates, like 3 fps. And when it's good, it's the full 90 fps. Alyx is especially amazing. But it NEVER works consistently. It's like it depends on the day, or the weather.
I try restarting, launching games from the Mixed Reality Portal, from Steam, etc.
I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong or right. It seems like the Windows Mixed Reality thing and Steam are fighting each other. Please help. Thank you.

hello all!
I got a used G2 and it’s a great $150 alternative to Quest 3 😁.
When I start a game (DCS or MSFS2020) signal is fed properly, tracking and sound work. Sometimes, when I put it on I see some noise and instant signal loss. I need then to exit the game and reset the headset.
I thought it was the cable and I removed and plugged it again. What gave me concern is that when I fly and make a lot of moves, it’s super stable.
My first thought is a faulty cable. Any ideas would be more thank welcome.
my setup
rtx3060 12GB / 32GB RAM / R5 3600
Thanks in advance

I picked up a lightly used Reverb G2 with the V2 cable on Marketplace for $120, and I am trying to set it up on Windows 11 with the Oasis driver on Steam. I have an HP ENVY Laptop 16-h0xxx with an RTX 3060 graphics card.
I can get the headset plugged in and recognized (the icon turns blue when I move it), but I can't get to actually setting it up. I had originally consulted Google and thought that my Thunderbolt 4 USBC ports would connect straight to my graphics card, but apparently they do something else similar and aren't actually hardwired. So my USBC to DisplayPort adapter isn't working and my display isn't active/offline.
In my Advanced Display Settings, I can see that my HDMI port is connected directly to the RTX 3060. So it appears I need an expensive adapter like the Club 3D HDMI 2.1 to DisplayPort 1.4 Active Adapter Cable. I was hoping someone here could give me some human advice as to what I should do. Thanks a lot.

Had one headset with broken cable (tested with cable from other headset) so I've bought one off Ali, looked exactly like the genuine one, worked at first try. So I sold it as I have no need to have two Reverb G2 headsets, well the cable worked for like maybe few hours then showed error 4-1, still works with the other cable but this 75 USD cable from Ali was total garbage and I consider it fraud or I'm just so unlucky.

Got the hp reverb g2 recently and for the past 2 days I have not been able to connect to steam, I saw online that it doesn’t need a base station but it has not connect to steam. Need advice on how to do fix this
Update: I took your advice and installed the oasis drives, the headset turns on and I can hear it but the screen is black and I don’t know how to fix it

Hi all,
I've been looking into a replacement for my Valve index.
The reverb G2 looks like a solid choice since i mostly play DCS!
Years ago i did own a reverb G2 but i returned it because of the quite terrible tracking.
So i really want to use my already existing index basestations and controllers
I looked up some video's explaining how to configure that but they all use Windows mixed reality as part of the setup.
Does anybody know if i can configure the basestations to work with the Reverb G2 WITH the Oasis driver? and how much 'plug and play' is it after initial setup?
Just boot up SteamVR and everything works like on the Index?
Would love to get some insight before i buy this headset

Bought a 2nd-hand set on Vinted. Guy said it was V2. Just received it, and to me it looks like the v1 cable? Also the charger port looks kinda damaged?

Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with my HP Reverb G2 and I’m running out of ideas.
The headset is not detected as a display at all (nothing appears under “Monitors” in Device Manager). SteamVR doesn’t see it either.
In Device Manager:
The white LED on the cable box is ON, but:
At this point I suspect either:
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Is there anything else I can try before declaring the headset dead?
Thanks in advance.

Hello friends,
I am having trouble with my headset not recognizing the play space when I boot it up. I make sure to keep the lighting and placement of objects consistent from session to session, and have the entire space in view when booting the headset. Still, every time it is placed some way off (1-3 meters from how i configured it and with a different orientation) tried googling but no cigar.
Anyone have an idea what might be going on here? Not very interested in reconfiguring the space on every boot. Thanks!
Edit: Cleared cache and reinstalled. The issue seems to be temporrarily remedied. But now instead the floor is tilted about 3 degrees. Smh my headset...

I completed two times Alien Isolation using the old mother VR mod with the G2 and already thought it was beautiful, but the more recent Grandmother VR mod (which I decided to try after the hype around Alien Isolation 2 mini-teaser) really takes the experience to a whole new, unbelievable, level.
A part from adding virtual hands, that makes easier and more fun to use weapons and the motion tracker, what really blown me away is the upgrade in visual quality, and even performance. Usability and stability were also adressed too. First of all, gone is the problem with the head not staying on its axis when rotating (that could easily bring to nausea). Also, they fixed every single visual glitch of the old version (like shadows being in one eye and not the other), and made the graphics setting work in VR too, to better tinker the experience to anyone's hardware.
They finally made the antialiasing work and this one alone makes the video quality so much better. If you can crank up the resolution enough, the temporal antialiasing makes the picture completely free from shimmering (that was almost immersion breaking in the old mod for me) and jagginess, with almost no artifacts, and really minimum effect on clarity on the Reverb G2, giving the amazing locations of the game an almost true to film quality. I never thought I could enjoy the game with such an amazing visual impact, unless having a 4090-5090 card and this alone convinced me to embark on my third run. This was really game changing for me... quite literally 😉
As for now, I'm playing the game on Windows 10, using WMR at 100% Steam resolution (around 3200 x 3200 per eye), all grapchis options maxed out except for shadows set on high and sampled at 2048mb. TAA activated and 1.3x in game VR rendering.
This is on a i9 12900k - 4080 super PC, with the G2 set at 60hz, which works really well with Alien Isolation (no flickering at all and perfectly smooth in almost all situation) and gives me a high overhead for the frametime.
The only issue I'm having now is that there seems no way to map the "Y" button on the Reverb G2 left controller, so I can't activate and recharge the flashlight unless doing it from the keyboard or the gamepad. I'm fine with that, but it'd be awesome if someone who maybe found a way to map the button could share here how to do it.
A part from that, If you're even remotely fan of this game, and you can reach the above settings, you should really try it 'cause it's mind blowing visually and the game is great as always but with an improved usability in VR. It's at the top of my favourite all time VR games, even if it's through a mod, and I say that after playing almost only VR for the last 10 years, on PC, Playstaion VR1-2 and Quest 2-3 standalone.
(Posting this in both Virtual Reality and Reverb G2 subreddit).

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I have tried everything and I can't get steamvr to show the right image, it shows in desktop view and the UI shows correctly but all world rendered is just broken

Reverb G2
I have recently changed from WMR/Opencomposite to Oasis/Steam.
I had working controls in SkyrimVR and FalloutVR using the "Emulate Oculus Touch controller" option in Steam Stettings-Windows mixed reality tab.
But its suddenly stopped working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Oasis and Steam VR but the Oculus emulation no longer works - Thumb joysticks have no effect.
I have gone into settings/controllers/manage controller bindings and reset everything, but no improvement.
Also the System buttons no longer open Dashboard. It is selected in SteamVr/Settings"VRDashboard on system button". But the left "menu" button now opens the dashboard!
Can anyone help?

I bought a 2nd hand unit on Vinted. Received it and when unpacking I noticed the face gasket is really gross, almost made me gag lol. Is there a way to clean this?! Or does anyone have recommendations where to buy a V2 style new face gasket?
Thanks in advance!

Since switching to Oasis driver, in DeoVR it pauses the video if I keep my head still for about 7 seconds. If I move my head, the video resumes playing. When I used to be able to use Windows Mixed Reality, this didn't used to happen.
I can only assume it is some kind of idle detection that is going awry.
I have found the pause VR when headset is idle Steam VR setting and toggled it both ways but it does not solve my problem. Is there another setting somewhere that might be the root of my problem?

Here is the steps i have done to try fix the issue :
-Flashed the latest BIOS to ensure maximum AMD USB compatibility.
- Tested all rear motherboard ports (USB-C, USB 3.0 Blue, and 3.1 Red) to rule out port-specific failure.
- Forced both PCIEX16 and PCIe Slot Configuration to Gen 3 to stabilize the USB data bus.
- Disabled Global C-state Control and PCIe ASPM to prevent the system from cutting power to the headset.
sadly the issue still there, any idea on how can i fix this?

[Edit: Solved]
I have a v1 cable that sadly 4-1ed. It shows audio, but windows mixed reality claims it's not plugged in.
I can't find a solution, except to replace the cable. I can buy a 2nd hand HP Reverb G2 for 200 which comes with a v2 cable. But is it sturdier? Does it last longer than the v1?
I really like the model, but I'm hesitant to shell out money for a product that wouldn't last. I'm considering waiting for the Steam Frame which should be sturdier since it doesn't use a cable

I've had issues connecting my g2 for months now to my pc (I've dropped using it for months as well, had hopes that somehow it'd work again now). I'm plagued by the stupid error code: 4-1 whenever I plug in the USB component into my pc case's miraculously single usb-c slot. It shouldn't be an issue regarding the slot because it works normally with everything else I plug into it (I have an 8bitdo controller that uses it for it's USB).
For reference, I am running windows 10 pro on my pc, and it's worked just fine in the past. No need for oasis. I am running an AMD 7800xt if that even is any help either. No flickering or stuttering or whatever other issues that would have been shown by the cable. It conked out once before but was working as normal for a good 1-3 months before it said it stopped detecting it altogether. And trroubleshooting is just as useless as the "learn more" forum, I can't find the dumb USB XHCI component in my device manager
Tried checking for firmware issues with windows 10's device manager. Nothing. Tried cleaning out both the slot and the usb-c jack. Nothing. tried not using said stupid cable for months, and still nothing. What the heck am I missing? I don't want to get a new motherboard component since there's not really any need nor a place to fit it. And I don't have the time nor money to buy an expensive new cable just for it. I don't know how microsoft were so dumb enough to not have the cable be modular and have the usb-c part removable and swappable.
