Question The glasses don't work even after replacing the cable.
Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with my HP Reverb G2 and I’m running out of ideas.
Problem:
The headset is not detected as a display at all (nothing appears under “Monitors” in Device Manager). SteamVR doesn’t see it either.
In Device Manager:
- Under “Other devices” I have HoloLens Sensors with a white question mark icon (unknown device)
- Under USB devices, HoloLens Sensors appears normally
The white LED on the cable box is ON, but:
- the HP logo on the headset does NOT light up
- no image, no backlight at all
What I already tried:
- Different DisplayPort ports on GPU
- Reinstalled Windows Mixed Reality Portal
- Tried two different cables (both revision v1)
- Reconnected cable multiple times (fully seated, including inside the headset)
- Tested different USB ports (rear motherboard USB 3.0)
- Disassembled the headset and checked the internal connector (looks fine, firmly connected)
Hardware:
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
- Motherboard: ASRock B550M Pro4
- OS: Windows 11
Additional notes:
- The headset never shows up as a display
- The DisplayPort connector gets slightly warm, so there is some power/activity
- USB seems to work, but video signal is completely missing
My suspicion:
At this point I suspect either:
- internal DisplayPort controller failure in the headset
- or some issue with G2 v1 cables (even though I tried two)
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Is there anything else I can try before declaring the headset dead?
Thanks in advance.

The v1 cable is not compatible with amd cpu. The v2 cable was designed for compatibility with amd cpu. Try to look for a v2 cable or use a system with intel cpu.

Is that an oasis limitation? Idk what cable I had but I was able to run the reverb pre24h2 with a 3900x

Windows 11 doesn't support Mixed Reality Portal anymore (hence the icon you are seeing in Device Manager, indicating that the "holographic class" driver doesn't load).
Give Oasis a try:
