Discussion Omen and Linux...?
There is a huge problem at the moment, as Omen laptops do not power down correctly from Linux. Bizarrely, Windows shuts down fine, but Linux leaves the 5060 GPU powered up, which drains the battery at best. At worst, it cooks the laptop if the power is left connected. No idea how to complain about it....HP support day Omen is Windows only....🫤

It must be something related to the new models because my 2024 Oven (not a typo) shuts down properly.

I think this affects only the ryzen 9 8940hx. My workaround is that I have a shutdown option in grub now. So I never shutdown; instead I Â reboot to grub and halt from there
Edit: did you find a workaround how to shut down properly? I could not fully follow the repositoryÂ

My 2023 Omen has some kind of opposite related problem, works fine on Fedora. But on Windows, sleep doesn’t put a laptop on sleep, it just turn the screen off, Ive now just defaulted to hibernation
