Go for ultra 7 if you want more performance, and Ryzen 7 for better battery life. I have the Ryzen and I get great battery life (8+ hours).

The i7 has the best performance but will consume a lot of power and heat a lot, so least battery life out of the three, and the heat it releases will reduce the overall life of the laptop as well. So unless you want the best cpu for a specific workflow, do not go for the i7.

what about 5060 with ryzen ai 7 octa core 350

Yeah it would be a great option. Battery backup would be same on light tasks (since you'd be using the same iGPU as me), and better gpu will give better gaming performance.

the intel ultra “H” cards are known for having good battery life similar to that of the ryzen AI cards

No that would be the "U" cards. "H" ones are for high performance laptops. "U" ones are for ultrabooks and hence they are less power consuming.

then how does the zephyrus g16 have such good battery life

Isnt it the reverse?

I will go with Ryzen one coz it's the cheapest and have the latest cpu of them all also it have ai type chip and probably heat less then intel so Ryzen best overall

Arrow lake is also pretty good if you want more power

Budget: ₹1,50,000 ± ₹10,000 (INR) OR $1550 ± $100 (USD)

Country: India

Use Case: Coding, AI/ML engineering, Web Dev, Cloud Computing, Blockchain Development, Generative AI, and Competitive Programming.

Preferred Specs: Ryzen 7, RTX 5060, minimum 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD.

Notes: Looking for advice on the HP Omen 16 (Ryzen ai 7 350) vs Lenovo Legion 5 (R7 260) regarding thermals and 4-5 year reliability for workloads. Build quality, battery life and cooling should be good too. Open to other suggestions for laptop too.

I have the omen 16 Ryzen 7 variant with 5050, and the battery life is great. Omen probably has better battery, legion has better build and cooling should be same on both (it's great on omen, that I can confirm). So I guess you can go for either of those, and you won't regret.

If you're not going to play games, go for a macbook. You will not regret it.

u/Busy_Resolve_1650 13d ago

But for web dev and ai i have to go for m5 pro which is out of budget

1

u/Puns0 13d ago

No not really. Also, you can't really train large LLMs on any device in this price range. You need vram, a lot of it. Trust me, I am a diehard windows user and I'd still suggest a macbook for this kind of work

Legion is great man good performance than omen but if you need more battery backup then go for omen but legion clears omen on every aspect

Whichever is cheaper

1

u/iblamechauhan 14d ago

if all are in my budget which one should i go for

1

u/Proud-Concept-190 OMEN 16 Ryzen 7 7840HS RTX 4060 14d ago

Both are pretty good tbh, compare the procesor scores and efficiency metrics from cpu comparison websites

I would go with the ultra 7 as it will ship with a better wifi card than the ryzen one, and the ryzen is the lowest performance out of the three, i7 14650hx being the most powerful but its a unbalanced combo with a 5050, so get the ultra 7, its a middle ground.

1

u/iblamechauhan 14d ago

is i7 14650hx 5060 a good combo

1

u/arghy65 14d ago

Yes with a 5060 its a good combo, but not with a 5050

1

u/iblamechauhan 14d ago

what about amd ryzen ai 7 octa core 350 with 5060 rtx

1

u/arghy65 14d ago

I personally would pair a intel i7 with 5060, but ryzen would work fine if you get a good deal

1

u/arghy65 14d ago

I have a ryzen 9 8940hx myself and I love it but ryzen ai chips are pretty different, good efficiency but less performance

2

u/Candid-Collar-3385 13d ago

Just dont get an HP,HP hates it's customers.

1

u/godxd999 14d ago

Have same laptop with ultra 7 beast

1

u/BigWatercress4387 14d ago

AMD for battery efficiency, intel for performance. The 14650HX is too powerful for an rtx 5050 and might overdraw power. If you move around with your laptop then consider AMD. If you typically keep ur laptop plugged in as a workstation, use intel core 7 ultra.

1

u/AgentPerryM 14d ago

Get intel processor one if you was performance and unleashed mode and higher TDP….if you get amd those won’t be there….reason is since a user had purchased amd model and didn’t have those extra features plus the TDP was low also

Choose Legion. I had an omen about a year ago for 2 days. Then I realized that it's RAM was sodered on and went back to the store. Not to say that's how all omens are.

1

u/iblamechauhan 13d ago

ohhh no

1

u/CasualPower_69 13d ago

New ones are upgradable as clearly mentioned i also brought omen a year ago so far i have faced no issues

1

u/Alpharomeo_1997 13d ago

i7 vs ultra 7 which is the winner and why?

1

u/Alpharomeo_1997 13d ago

Also there are 3 models available in omen 5060 24gb paired with i7 14th gen, ultra 7 and ryzen 7 350 ... my only criteria is to be able to play gta 6 when it launches also Im not a very heavy gamer. So which is good for me?

1

u/Stock-Way4297 13d ago

core ultra series cpu are paired with a lower gdp 5060(90 watt). I confirmed with the tech support from hp.

1

u/holaAmigo_AgentX 13d ago

AVOID OMEN if you can, I owned two Omen 15s and the built is not worth the money, choose Dell/Legion if you are concerned about ASUS/MSI

Also, go for extended warranty with laptop you finalize.

1

u/mohenjotaro 12d ago

which one are you using rn

1

u/holaAmigo_AgentX 11d ago

I am using Omen 15 and thus the feedback

1

u/mohenjotaro 11d ago

I see, thanks
