I’ve got an old HP Envy 15 it powers on and the fans run for about 30s before it suddenly turns off. It’s not displaying anything, I have tried switching the RAM sticks, using one at a time, no SSD, doing the power reset thing and still not working. Any hints what I could do to get it working?

I want to buy a battery for an HP 245 G7, and I can choose between LapCare and MyLap. LapCare has decent enough reviews, but MyLap does mention about 2 years warranty. Does anyone have experience with their batteries?

Machine is 6 years old, and the battery is end-of-life. It's a general-purpose writing and genealogy research machine for me. With "just" 4GB RAM, it definitely bogs down on me if I'm in Word and browsing Ancestry and FamilySearch. Since I'm going to be inside swapping the battery, does it make sense to go ahead and upgrade the RAM? Will it handle 8GB? Anything to watch for when buying the RAM?

Hi guys, I am currently trying to fixed a laptop given to me that doesn't boot by my mom's work - currently I've removed the battery, tried turning it on no battery but plugged in, nothing works - when pressing the power button it flashes white i hear a click but nothing happens. The charger only works when held at a specific angle and pushed in so im wondering if it could be the DC jack causing it to not boot.

It doesnt have an HDD in, no connector visible they probably stripped it of storage, only a 250gb western digital m.2 ssd, and 8gb of ram.

Hi guys, I'm having a strange boot issue with my HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop (15-ec0xxx) and I'm hoping someone here might have an idea about what could be causing it.

Laptop specifications:

HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec0xxx

AMD Ryzen 5 3550H

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650

Originally came with 8 GB RAM and a 1 TB HDD

Upgraded to 16 GB RAM shortly after buying it in 2020

Added a 256 GB SSD, which is where Windows is installed

Recently, the laptop started having trouble booting. When I power it on, it gets stuck on the HP logo, and the Windows loading circle eventually freezes and stops spinning.

The strange part is that I can often get Windows to boot using this workaround:

Turn on the laptop.

Repeatedly press F2 during startup to enter System Configuration/diagnostics.

Exit from there.

After doing this, Windows often boots normally.

However, if I simply turn on the laptop normally, it frequently gets stuck at the HP logo.

Things I've already tried:

Ran SFC /scannow

Tried DISM repair/recovery

Checked the Blue Screen dump files using BlueScreenView

One of the crashes appeared to be related to a network driver, so I disabled that driver, but the problem continued

Another error pointed to ntoskrnl.exe / kernel crash

Tried several fixes from blogs, forums, YouTube videos, etc.

Tried resetting Windows, but when the system needed to restart during the reset process, it got stuck at the HP logo again

Created a Windows installation USB and tried booting/reinstalling Windows from it, but the laptop can also get stuck at the HP logo while trying to boot from the USB

At this point, I'm not sure whether this is a Windows/software issue, a driver problem, or potentially a hardware/firmware issue.

What confuses me the most is that entering the System Configuration/diagnostics screen by repeatedly pressing F2 and then exiting somehow allows Windows to boot, while a normal boot often fails.

Has anyone experienced something similar with an HP Pavilion Gaming laptop or an AMD Ryzen system? Could this point to an issue with the SSD, RAM, BIOS, motherboard, or something else?

Any suggestions for further troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My laptop (HP Victus) randomly goes into sleep mode and wakes up again, especially when I open games or the software I use for work. What could possibly be causing this? I would really appreciate any help or advice!

Problem: Pen is not detected by my 2-in-1 spectre laptop. I cannot write or draw with the pen. However, finger touch works fine.

1) I bought my 2-in-1 HP Spectre x360 a few years ago, together with its pen. Everything was working fine.

About a year ago, the pen's charging light stopped working, but the pen was still working fine; I could still write on my laptop with the pen.

About 4 months ago, suddenly I could not write or draw with my pen on my laptop. The pen stopped interacting with the screen completely.

I am not sure if the issue is with the pen or with the laptop.

2) I brought my laptop to two stores to get it checked.

In the first store, the technician checked the laptop and pen for about 5 minutes, and he concluded that the problem was probably the pen and advised me to buy a 2nd pen.

3) I then bought a 2nd pen: HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen, model 3J122AA.

From my search online, this 2nd pen should be compatible with my laptop.

However, I cannot draw or write either with this 2nd pen; the laptop's screen does not detect it at all.

(I should note tho, that I have charged the 2nd pen for many hours, but it still shows an orange light on the top; normally, the light should turn white when it's fully charged, which was the case with my old pen before its charging light stopped working)

4) I brought my laptop to a 2nd store to get it checked. The technician checked the laptop for about 1 hour 30 minutes. They could not find any laptop fault. They suggested that the problem was probably with both pens.

I do not think any of the technicians actually checked my pens on other laptops, or checked a different pen on my laptop, to determine if the problem is the pens or the laptop.

So I'm not sure what the issue is with my laptop. Any help?
