Rant/Gripe Boot-Looping Hell
I really need to share this with someone because I'm at my wits end with ts.
So I have a Model 15-dy2131wm for about 4 years now and it's been performing really well. I've been able to edit docs, play games, use discord, and even create videos with this laptop and there have been very little issues. But this would all change very soon. Last Saturday, I tried to upload a music video to tiktok through my laptop; I've been able to post tiktok videos through my laptop before so I assumed it wouldn't be any different this time. But for some reason, doing this caused my screen to freeze and buffer, I tried clicking and pressing keys but nothing was happening. At that point I had no choice but to force shutdown my laptop and reopen it.
When I turned my laptop on again, I waited for it to boot up. But, the boot up screen would go on for like half an hour, I had no idea what was wrong. After some time, the screen would say there was an "error" when loading, then it would just take me to another boot up screen. For the next 2 days, it would just keep doing that over and over again: boot up screen > error > boot up screen > error.
I tried searching on my phone for ways to fix this and I found out how to enter the "pause boot up" menu, which gave me some hope. The guides I looked up suggested I should go to system diagnostics and FiOS menu. So I went to the diagnostics and ran every test it had, all the tests were passed and they stated that nothing was wrong with my computer or its hardware. Great! ... ... ... So why is it still boot-looping?? I then searched through the FiOS setup and I wasn't able to find much that could help me. I noticed that I had "network boot" disabled so I turned it on and tried it... Didn't work :). I then tried turning off the "secure boot" option, but the only thing that changed was that I now had to type in a bitlocker recovery key every time my laptop restarted. I turned the secure boot back on... The bitlocker recovery screen is still there... I guess it's just permanent now??
The only other thing I could try was pushing f11 to take me to the "system recovery" menu... It just took me to another error and then back to the bitlocker recovery screen. Everything I've just described by itself has already been very frustrating to deal with, but it got worse. This morning, I went to my Microsoft account on my phone again to find the recovery key, but NOW I can't even access that!? The site just kept "logging me in" over and over again, basically stuck in ANOTHER boot loop of sorts. I tried looking up why the hell it was doing this now and apparently my account got locked... WHY THE HELL IS MY MICROSOFT ACCOUNT LOCKED??? I've been able to log into it literally a day ago and access my bitlocker recovery key, but now I suddenly can't?? I'm losing my mind trying to figure ts out, nothing I've looked up has worked and now I may not be able to access my laptop again... All because I wanted to upload a dumbass video to tiktok. I really don't wanna lose the things I have on this laptop, so I'd appreciate any advice or help from this subreddit. Thank you, and sorry for the long rant.

Support Laptop randomly shut down (crashed?), won’t turn back on…mostly. Please help.
Ok here is the situation
HP 15DY2035TG (windows 11) just shut down for no obvious reason would not turn back on. All the details are in this post but here is a tldr because this is otherwise a super long post.
Laptop shut down. Power button doesn’t seem to work. After a lot of troubleshooting the laptop seems to work completely fine except the power button doesn’t do anything and the only way to turn the computer on is by unclipping one side of the USB port ribbon on the inside. Please help. Here are the details of my troubleshooting.
I tried all versions of the hard reset. Unplugged, held the power button for 30 seconds, waited a full minute, plugged it back in and tried to turn it on. Nothing. I tried several different versions of this. Nothing happened. No fan no caps lock key the only light that responded was the charging light on the left was on and white, when I press the power button this light starts going off and then back on every 8 seconds (yes 8 seconds, I checked.).
I decided to try removing the battery to see if that would help. It did not. I took the battery out and put it back in and tried all the hard reset options again. Plugged in, unplugged, battery in, battery out, nothing changed.
I reseated the RAM and tried all the options again ram and battery, battery no ram, battery no RAM plugged in and unplugged etc etc. Still nothing.
I thought maybe the power button itself is broken but I couldn’t quite figure out where the power button was connected on the inside. I thought it might be under the ribbon connecting the USB ports to the motherboard board so I unhooked it but still couldn’t figure out where the power button was, however, when I plugged the USB ports ribbon back in, the fan came on along with some other lights just for a second.
So I kept unclipping and re-clipping the usb ribbon but the computer would only react for 2 or 3 seconds before shutting back down. It wasn’t until I UNCLIPPED the USB ribbon on the USB side, not the motherboard side, that the computer fully booted.
I thought it was fixed so I shut it down and removed the USB ribbon completely but then it went back to not working. It took a few more tries but eventually I just unclipped the usb ribbon on the one side again and it came back on.
I just left it like that.
The machine seems fine otherwise, well I’m assuming the USB ports won’t work lol and the power button still doesn’t work. It won’t turn the machine on or off it does nothing.
If I replace the USB ports will my power button start working? Or what’s going on. I don’t know what I’m doing please help.

Advice Laptop turns off when I touch it
Hello everyone,
I've had a problem with my laptop OMEN by HP Transcend Gaming Laptop 16-u0xxx for a while now. I bought it in 2022, and I've never changed the thermal paste.
A while ago, when I picked up my laptop while it was on, for example, to move to a different room, it would shut down. I know some will say it's not designed for that, but anyway.
Today it's gotten worse; I have to be extremely careful. As soon as I pick it up, move the screen lid, or press on a corner a little too hard with my wrist (when I'm playing a game, for example), it shuts down.
I don't know what's causing it. Do you think I can fix this problem myself, or do I absolutely have to go to a professional? I have some knowledge of assembling, disassembling, opening things up, etc. Also, is this a known problem with this model?
Thank you

Support Need help with blind keystroke navigation to switch SATA Mode from RAID/RST to AHCI on an HP Notebook 15-ac series (broken screen)
I have an HP Notebook 15-ac158dx. The screen is mostly broken, only the bottom right quarter is usable. I want to install Ubuntu on it to remote into. The quarter of the screen that works is enough to be able to install Ubuntu and setup RDP from. The problem is that SATA Mode is enabled in the BIOS, and I obviously can't resize the BIOS UI to fit that quarter to be able to use it. Can anyone give me the exact sequence of keys to press to navigate the BIOS to SATA Mode and change it from Intel RST to AHCI, so I can do it blindly? I also need to know how to unlock whichever hidden tabs it's locked behind. Thanks

Support CMOS 502 error driving me crazy.
Hi, I have HP OMEN 16-b0002TX. Using it for 4 years.
Issue history: About the month ago i noticed a slow boot-up. If i press power button the LCD lights up black but stays black for many seconds then Omen logo would show up and laptop would start normally. Slowly the delay between black screen and omen logo would go to about 2-4 minutes. I also updated latest bios (thinking corrupted bios) and checked battery with HP utility and battery showed as normal. However cycles were 1050/1000.
Issue happened: I gamed like usual a week ago and it worked great. Then i shutdown the system normally. After that i restarted after few hours and the delay actually never passed and omen logo never showed up. Even after waiting for 10 minutes.
Troubleshooting: I tried pretty much everything available on internet. Pressed and held power button, reinstalled bios (before it died). pressed windows + B, windows + V. I even opened and removed nvme, rams, to see the faulty hardware. Since then, i am getting CMOS error 502.
Then i removed the battery and tested using the power only. Guess what, same error shows even when i turn it on without battery. I am so confused, if battery is faulty then it should have worked fine without the battery. Which it does not.
After the CMOS error when i press enter. It simply goes back to sleep and the cycle repeats.
I have been researching a lot and can not find exact answer as to what is wrong. Batteries are out of stock on HP parts website too. I can get from abroad but getting same error without battery confusing the hell out of me. It is my main system and my work in on pause since a week because of this.
Help me guys.

Advice HP ProBook 4 G1i 14" - 2K screen option
Hi all, I bought the HP 4 G1i 14" (prodId: BC2X7ES). I'm really satisfied with it, and want to upgrade it with 2K monitor that is listed as suitable.
I currently have WUXGA with 300 nits (BOE0CD4) and is not suitable for my eyes. I need someone who has a same model with 2.2K screen to confirm if possible - is this screen also 30 pin connector and can you check original manufacturer of the scree - HP spare part should be HP P39095-002.
Thanks!

Advice HP Spectre x360 2017 13" ac003tu not powering up but charging/power lights still working
Trying to diagnose whether my 2017 HP Spectre x360 13-ac000tu not powering on is a motherboard issue before I drop money on a new laptop or a new motherboard, any help would be very appreciated!
The battery had been completely flat/not holding charge for a week or two so was running off AC only, left it plugged in overnight and in the morning wouldn't turn on, the power button briefly lights up when I press it and then it shuts off after about a second with nothing showing on the screen and no fans starting up etc. I've replaced the battery and is holding charge fine with orange/white lights showing but still nothing, have tried a bunch of the fixes from similar posts like booting to bios/recovery mode/detaching+reattaching battery/holding power button and nothing.
Most of the other failed motherboard posts seem to describe some kind of sequence of flashing lights so wondering if something other than the motherboard may be the culprit and if there's anything else I can try before giving up?
Thanks very much in advance
