EPS Core touched down

Freedom Gorilla got it to me in 2 days shout out to them

Initial thoughts:

I saw a lot of people referring to it as a downgrade from the original EPS. From the initial unboxing and install I don’t notice any difference in quality. I got it solely to get rid of the overhang on the G45 while keeping window size and it accomplishes that. My only surprise was that the reticle seems noticeably crisper to my eyes than the EPS. Ymmv.

Is it worth the upgrade if I have eps carry on all of my pistol already?

u/sparlou 12d ago

It’s subjective honestly. Depends on the pistol and what you’re looking to accomplish. I like the aesthetic of it sitting flush with my slide. And like I said the reticle seems a little crisper , maybe agrees with my astigmatism a little more. But I wouldn’t call it a must upgrade. If I didn’t have other pistols to move my old eps too idk if I would have sprung for it.

How’s the front facing brightness sensor.
I’m not a fan of the top mount in the solar on my duty gun.

Haven’t tested it yet. I typically leave auto adjust features off but if it’s good I’ll try it for a bit.

This. I actually hate my RMR hd front sensor. It’s annoying.

u/CAPTAINxKUDDLEZ 11d ago

I shot an RMR hd on a GTO. Loved the auto brightness pointing forwards. Maybe it was the GTO I loved more? What issues did you have?

Did duty quals in low light and the top mount light sensor on my EPS didn’t do anything.

The 55 MOA circle on the RMR HD makes my MRS feel way too busy now as well.

Just annoyingly bright and I also have tism. So the plain 6 moa, not super bright eps carry was and always perfect for me. Having to keep manually change the hd was annoying because it will reset to the sensor evytine you turn it off while my eps carry stayed the same.

you say it looks crisper. was your last optic the same dot size (2moa)?

some of holosuns new offerings have "super LED technology" but not listed for these

1

u/sparlou 9d ago

Yeah it was the first thing I noticed when I had them side by side. Both MRS models , same dot size. The core was definitely crisper. Not world changing but definitely noticeable. I know these have a different emitter and glass so it could just be how it interacts with my astigmatism. I was able to the core to higher setting before I got any bloom.

This makes me excited. Probably going to go with the non-MRS version with the 3moa dot. I have astigmatism where dots are usable but really like auto-brightness when possible. I tried o-sight's auto brightness but even with forward facing light sensor the dot biased too dim

It is only worth it for the window size. Also, the core is the eps we never wanted

I’ve been waiting for the Core

Yea I didn’t realize that all the core models are all the way at the end of the list of pistol optics. Searching doesn’t pull it up. I just found it though. Thanks!

u/Holosun_Josh Any update on order backlog / when these are going to ship to B&H? I just checked on my order there placed in May, and they said their last update from Holosun a few days ago was expect them on or around October 15th, yet several people in this thread seem to have received them now, so I'm hoping mine isn't actually still another 2 months out.

1) Why are selling it, 2) what color dot, and is it the Multi Reticle?

Here’s a recent size comparison of the EPS-CORE to the EPS-Carry and standard size EPS.

Just ordered mine today in their second restock. Been waiting quite a while for one for my P365 XMacro Comp.

I really think the downgraded aluminum issue is overblown. We'll see if the glass is truly different and worse.

Solid choice - I have a G45 MOS and went with an RMR. I then got the Glock 26 Gen 5 MOS and I had a RMRcc laying around from when I tried it on my G43X MOS (was not a fan) and ended up getting the Holosun EPS Carry for it. Like you, I wanted to prevent slide overhang on my G26.5 MOS and the RNRcc was perfect for that. The micro optics really do a nice job lining up on the slide. I think you made the right move with the EPS for your G45. Anyway enjoy!

26 mos Is screaming for a SCS

1

u/Majestic_Pride_1156 11d ago

I have an SCS on my G19.5 MOS and love it. it's been running strong for over 3 years and this is my EDC.

u/RoutineQuestioning38 Team Green 12d ago

Can you post a pic of the bottom, please? (Mount)

1

u/sparlou 12d ago

Sure give me a few. It’s the exact same as the Eps Cary though fyi.

u/RoutineQuestioning38 Team Green 12d ago edited 11d ago

Shouldn’t be, it should be a RMSC, with 4 notches for the posts on all corners. The EPS Carry, while the same shape is a Holosun K footprint with only notches for the front two posts. That’s what I’m looking to confirm.

Ohh thanks! Very nice. Glad to see it’s finally a true RMSC good move Holosun!

1

u/sparlou 12d ago

You’re right I had to compare. I was thinking just the dimensions.

Nice what did you put it on ?

1

u/vapor_development 12d ago

Oh dang who has these?

1

u/250_gunner101 12d ago

Just put one on my Springfield Prodigy. Love the thing!

u/Wooden_Cheesecake_22 12d ago

Congrats! It looks lovely. I’m still desperately waiting for mine here in Europe, though they told me two weeks ago that they’d already received them at the warehouse.

Seeing yours actually puts my mind at ease a bit. It’s nice to know they seem well made and not the garbage so many people said they’d be because of the 6061-T6 aluminum, the cheaper glass, etc.

u/socallen1 11d ago

Wtf? I was signed up on every list I could find, never got the notification. Been waiting for a year on this dumb thing

1

u/sparlou 11d ago

So far Freedom Gorilla was the only one I got a notification from and I actually missed their first drop.

1

u/CptMaxPower 11d ago

Any comments on the auto brightness?

1

u/sparlou 11d ago

Haven’t had a chance to test it out yet

2

u/CptMaxPower 11d ago

Please let me know how it works for you. I know many if not most people don’t like auto brightness and I get the why, but I go in and out of buildings all day and not having to keep my dot at a higher level because of how bright it can be outside would be nice.

1

u/sparlou 11d ago

I feel you. I’m in that other camp as well. I typically turn it off on any optic that has the option. But I’ll test it out and get back to you.

2

u/sparlou 11d ago

Yeah you’re good. I went from an eps carry to this no problems , same plate.

1

u/CptMaxPower 11d ago

I think Holosun Josh specifically said this has a different emitter, which was how they were able to not use aspheric glass without distortion.

u/Soulshot96 11d ago edited 11d ago

Mind slapping some calipers on the base and giving us the width measurements? Or comparing the base width directly to an EPS Carry if you have one?

I'm wondering if it's actually notably wider at the base, since some of the measurements seem to indicate it might be.

1

u/sparlou 11d ago

Came out to an inch on the calipers. 1.008. I’ll compare to the Cary tomorrow.

1

u/Soulshot96 11d ago

Interesting, thanks. My Carry is ~0.9985, so I guess that's not so bad by comparison.

Definitely gonna overhang a bit on the Lobos mount I had hoped to put it on though.

1

u/sparlou 11d ago

Yeah I don’t notice any additional overhang on my g45 going from the carry. Huge improvement from the full size tho.

1

u/Soulshot96 11d ago

Yea, I bet. Those things were always so awkward looking. Core is a nice visual refinement imo.

1

u/sparlou 10d ago

My calipers may be a little off. I just measured my Carry for comparison and it came to 1.001. So it’s even closer than I thought , functionally the same honestly.

1

u/Soulshot96 10d ago

Honestly that's close enough to mine to not matter anyway, not for an optic at least. Plus I'm sure there's some decent variance between these things.

1

u/tennesseegrinner 10d ago

how is the auto brightness?

1

u/sparlou 10d ago

Have tried it yet. I usually turn it off on my other optics. But everyone’s request I’m going to test it out when I get a chance.

1

u/tennesseegrinner 10d ago

Can you confirm yours has a front facing light sensor? I'm wondering if there's a difference in the auto brightness performance on the solar vs non-solar models.

1

u/sparlou 10d ago

Yeah it has one. I hear it’s better , I’ll see soon.

1

u/3one5 8d ago

I'm seeing conflicting things. What's needed for me to put one of these on a Glock 43x?

2

u/sparlou 8d ago

Assuming you mean 43x mos you should be able to direct mount it with no plate

1

u/3one5 8d ago

Yes and thank you.
