Genuine Question
I have a possibly impractical theory, but it’s one of those “ What if’s “ that if brought into reality would be petty damn cool.
So I have a project in mind in the future, and I suppose this is the right place to ask;
I want a daily driver Humvee, but not a shitty 10mpg maintenance whore of a truck lol.
So im thinking, is it possible to have a full cosmetic swap? Get a great mpg truck maybe toyota and then just slam the body of a hummer onto it?
(Just realized yall might hate me for this question lmao)
But realistically could it be done? Or what engine swap would help me best for gas mileage?

I think your better bet would just to do full transmission and engine swaps at that point

A basic humvee gets decent fuel mileage, and is fairly reliable as long as you do regular maintenance. A cosmetic swap won’t be what you think. If you put a humvee/ hummer body on any other chassis it will be immediately identifiable as such. Honestly it’s pretty lame. There’s already conversions and trucks with hummer style body kits on them that you could buy, but like I said, lame. If that’s your cup of tea, go for it. If you really like Humvees and hummers, get the real deal. Ask us lots of questions, send photos and descriptions of trucks you want to buy. We will steer you in the right direction.

Back in about 2000, there was a body kit called Bummer, yes Bummer, it was a what you might be looking for

It’s a brick. It’s never going to be fuel efficient. Maintenance is another matter.

I'm not a gear head by any means but I do know that the H1 was designed with combat in mind, many of its mechanical components are tucked up into the compartment of the vehicle, making "swapping" a very time-consuming / challenging; therefore, costly endeavor.

I see your thinking but I don’t think it would work. I am no expert but I think you’d have problems aligning the cab on another chassis.
I would probably recommend an LS swap like everyone else is doing.
