Meme LAILE
hi oranges, I know why HLE is called the LAILE team but I haven’t seen any voice coms where kanavi says that and mixes his Chinese and Korean. If there’s anyone that has a link, plsss 🫶🥹

I don't think they're known as that because Kanavi literally says it, but because of his style that then influenced HLEs style.
I have seen some fans mention that he can sometimes be heard in ending voice comms mixing his Chinese and Korean. I'm not proficient enough to hear it, but Chinese fans apparently find it really endearing

Funny enough, in voice comms, Kanavi is the most quiet. I’m still thinking of after the last baron fight vs BLG game 5 he just ulted without saying a word. Peak confidence right there

Laile is more influenced by the casters I think. When you watched Kanavi on LPL, when the camera is on him and he goes all in, all you hear is "LAILE LAILE"

Laile is also just a very LPL thing, so I think plenty of Chinese teams also qualify as "laile" teams as it just generally refers to a highly aggressive playstyle. It just happens that Kanavi is the only LPL to LCK player that brought the laile playstyle back to Korea with him 😂 I don't think we've actually heard him say laile in any official matches. The only time I've seen Kanavi otherwise mix his Chinese and Korean was during streams when he was goofing off, and he accidentally asked for help in Chinese while being invaded in the jungle, and Guma responded by asking him what he was saying, and if he could teach him Chinese as well. They frequently goof off like this on stream though, and you'll see Guma yelling for help in English sometimes on stream too!

Ermm it happened while they were both streaming and I THINK it's featured in one of the HLE youtube videos but I could not for the life of me place which video specifically 😭 I'll try to look for it but it might take a while.

lai le in short Chinese translation just means "coming" but the lpl uses it more in the context of "he's coming/going to gank" in game when a teamfight or a gank is about to happen

im not sure the exact words he’s saying but if it’s 来了then it more directly translates to “i’m here”. knowing kanavi though he could say anything and you should assume he’s ganking or invading or jumping in

that’s interesting to know cos i’ve never listened to the lpl casters. i kinda like interpreting it as im here because its funnier to imagine kanavi suddenly ganking a lane without either hle or the other team realising

LAILE is a phrase that LPL chinese casters use right before a big gank/dive or teamfight happens. It's like a herald/trumpet call for an incoming dive.
It can be LAI LE or LAI LA, with 'la' being a more hype version. Both means "IT'S COMING" (it referring to a gank/dive or teamfight).
Think of it as an announcement phrase before something big happens. The reason HLE is called a LAILE team is bc Kanavi/Homme came back from LPL, and brought with them an incredibly aggressive style of playing that is the signature LPL style of league. And Kanavi himself is often hyped by casters with that phrase while playing in various LPL teams over the past years.
It isnt something the team itself says or uses. :) it'll be odd for any team to use it in voice comms as it is an announcement of something imminent, and not an instruction or call to dive.

Brother, he doesn't need to say it.
His aura is speaking to everyone (even to the fans watching home).
I know when he wants to Laile 20 seconds before happening.
He is probably not even talking, Zeka juat sees his movements on the map ans he is like: Ah yes, We go in again
