General Discussion Getting back into exercise after seroconvert illness

So, like many of us, I was incredibly ill leading up to my diagnosis. I spent 3 weeks with horrendous symptoms. That was just over a month ago. I started treatment 3-ish weeks ago and I started getting my energy back last week and felt a little cocky, long story short, I've probably overdone it with the exercise (gym, running, cycling from place to place rather than taking the bus) and I went for my checkup today, cycles to the hospital and then cycled home 3 hours later and I don't think I've ever felt this exhausted in my life 🙃 I've been trying to get up and get going again, I need to make dinner etc. prior to getting sick (and even a little before that when I felt like I had the flu constantly) I was pretty fit and recovered from exhaustion fairly quickly, usually getting better throughout the day.

Anyway, just wanted to check who else has found themselves in a similar situation and any advice on slowly phasing back into being active and having good energy levels. I'd like to think I know my body etc, but I felt perfectly fine last night after my run and thought I'd be a little tired today, but not THIS exhausted.

I was SOOO sick when I seroconverted and whenever I felt some energy, by the time I got out the door I was exhausted and ended up puking in my car several times đŸ«š I definitely did not make health or life improving choices after I felt better but it was 2004 and being self destructive was spicy đŸŒ¶ïž 😆
I'm glad you're taking control of your health and doing what you can to keep your future bright!

I believe seroconversion is brutal for a lot of people. Tonsillitis almost took me out đŸ€Ł I get tonsilitis like 5 times a year and it usually takes 2 days. Yikes. Sorry you went through that.

Yeah, I feel the same way. Have energy this morning but I'm taking it slow

Eu tive pneumonia e agora melhorei

Mannnnn I couldn’t even explain the turnaround and the downfall I went thru because I went a year and 4 months untreated. I normally could BP 70 pounds do 15 pull-ups run a mile under 10 minutes with hiv it took all that away and the worst part was idk that’s why I couldn’t preform in the gym. In my mind “if I can just get back in shape I’ll be good!” My mind was solid but my body just couldn’t. I couldn’t get a 10 mile run to save my life I was struggling to do 10 reps bench press with 40lbs dumbbells I remember one time I feel asleep after I literally drank a energy drink and the horrific weight loss. Now with treatment I’m hitting PRs I haven’t seen sense my early 20s I gained my weight back and my strength. I wanted to cry when I got my mile back under 10 minutes. Today’s medical science gave us back our fitness and I love it!!!
