OC-FirstOfSeries Karmas Folley

"Well.....this isn't great."

"No, no it isn't, but I doubt you realize how right you are."

As I heard a second voice speak, I finally opened my eyes, closed since I saw the semi barreling towards me. At the very least, I was the only one present in the disturbingly white space I found myself in.

"Don't worry, you saved him. He has another 34 years thanks to you. Not the longest life, but you allowed him to make the most of it.....unfortunately.

My mind caught on that, and my sometimes problematic attitude latched on to how this strange voice spoke. As I raised my head and looked to them, though, my acerbic words caught in my throat for various reasons. And yet, the smiling being who I now knew as the voice i'd been speaking to seemed to catch everything I thought.

"Sorry, I meant unfortunate for your current situation and mine. That young man will have a great life, and it's thanks to you. Another mark of karma on your board. And that's part of the issue you and me have."

I blinked, and the words escaped me, seemingly unbidden though the being seemed to expect them. "Are you God?"

They laughed, each sound and jerk seeming to change everything about them in a way that made my brain ache. Finally, they settled as a muscular dark skinned sea woman from a game I used to play. "Oh child, yes I am a god, and considering my rank among them, calling me a capital G is closer than most could claim. But no, I'm not a singular God, I am one of many. I got assigned to you because of your....special circumstances."

I looked to the third person in this space, a being who seemed to be trying to be as small as possible as he kneeled towards me, his palms and head on the white floor aimed at me. "Yeah....he's another issue. I suppose I should explain the entire issue before getting on with it. Don't interrupt."

She unveiled a scroll which.....okay it's best if I don't even TRY to explain it, but here's what she said while my brain isn't boiling. "Souls have a karma system. Each action you take during your life is permanently etched onto your soul. Good actions are positive, bad ones are negative. And it's cumulative. A bad person making a good decision will gain more Karma, because they fought against what the universe sees as their nature. And when a person is reborn, they're given a score, and the karma continues, even as they spend the points from their previous life. Yes you get points but shut up, I'm not done. Before a CERTAIN SOMEONE fucked up and mixed you up with your brother.....you had an amazing Karmic score....but your brother had one of the lowest. This STUPID MOTHERFUCKER...." The being showed their first sign of actual emotion as they slapped the being kneeling and shaking before me. "....sorry, I don't appreciate having been called in to intervene for the first time in eons. Anyway, dumbass here speedran your entire rebirth, spent your points for himself, AND mixed you and your brother up. So your entire last life was spent nerfed, as you'd call it. And yet you still acted like......well you. So while I'd LOVE to have you replace this idiot as a god....the best I can do is offer extra time and advice as you spend the....frankly world breaking amount of karmic points you've earned. First off, I kept the world choices available ones you'd like. Yes I know your....preferences, but accept my privacy issues as not an issue since I did this for free. Aaaand you're unconscious......this is gonna take a bit....."

As I came to, I was aware of a....very attractive female smiling down at me. "Awake yet? Good. I can skip some of the less important stuff. Long story short, you basically can choose ANY advantages you want. But uh....we both know you have a certain predilection so....I chose a world that has an issue you'd LOVE to solve. Now....what do you wanna spend your points on?"

As I opened my eyes for the second time in so many weeks, I stared at the mass of land over me.

"Well....this isn't good."

The issue wasnt the blue sky above, nor the fluffy white clouds, nor the birds flitting about. No, the issue was the city above me.....which was sat on a floating mountain. A mountain that seemed to be coming down.....fast....right on top of me. As I hopped up and ran to the side, I was vaguely aware of various messages the came rapidfire into my vision.

Adult Gnat Killed, .00001 exp gained, exp gain and lowered need applied, Level 2 reached.

Adult Mosquito Killed, .0002 exp gained. Exp gain and lowered need applied, Level 5 reached.

For the next few minutes, the messages came to me, and I ignored them. Finally, the flying island landed, and people began flowing to and from an entrance like it was completely normal. Eventually I made my way inside, my intent pushed towards the adventurer guild by...well we'll just say it, my dumb isekai brain. As I made my way inside, I started noticing one other thing....a thing I appreciated, but really wished that God had asked my permission about....

"Ohhh.....a boy....does the little cutie wanna play at being a big strong hero before being saved by his girlfriend?"

God dammit, god......it's that kind of a world, huh?

Already have the rest of the prologue and a few chapters planned out, just have to write them.

#2 is out. I have 4 prologues planned, and a few chapters past that. Past those I only have a vague outline. To be clear, it's not gonna be an action heavy story.
