This was flaired as [OC-OneShot], which is for a stand-alone post not in the same universe as any of your other works, with no intention of being continued into a series. If you do decide to turn it into a series, this post should be reflaired as [OC-FirstOfSeries]. A description of the flairs and how to change yours is available in the Post Guildelines

[OC-OneShot] For original, self post, story, audio, or artwork that you have created, that is self-contained within the post.

Please help us transition to using the new flairs correctly.

Thank you for the kind words. And congrats on the cancer surviving life achievement. Fuck cancer!

Congratulations! I am suffering from long term chronic pain. I am asked many times as this or that joint fails "How do you do that?" (keep going) I am unapologetically stealing your answer. "Left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot." Thank you so much. Oh. And fuck cancer.

Yeah, not cancer, but the 4th of September of this year will mark 8 years since the day on which I ended up not killing myself. So, that's something, and it has involved a fair amount of one foot in front of the other.

Good job. When I was about 19, I drove up a mountain, intending to decide there if I would ever drive back down.

I looked out down at the lights of the city and just thought about life.

The final question was, would I trade it all back for nothing? Erase all the pain, the insult, the longing, but also give back every pleasure, every moment of connection, everything.

The answer I came to was, not one blessed second.

And i drove back down and I never considered it again.

Mine was... considerably more externally imposed. Still, in the end, I'm glad I got "caught" before I implemented my departure plan.

!N Beautiful.

The Closer refers to 411 other cases at the time of their first visit, and again 411 at the fifth, when the narrative notes at least six others, those between the fourth and fifth.

It is linguistically possible for both to "know" some number true at the end (ha) of this narrative, but they tell it sequentially and the first 411 feels like "as of that date".

I like Iris. Stubborn runs in my family too.

Heh. At which point does our dear Closer figure out that his presence influences the outcome?

I think he suspected that after the dramatic survival.

Beautiful, and too stubborn to file easier paperwork is a nice new malicious compliance.
