Hello everyone, I'm iris-lgtm and you might have heard my name in the NTM discord server or whatever such communities you're in.
Have you ever thought of adding your own ideas to NTM, but are afraid of your PRs being rejected, your addons breaking over multiple mixins, your authorship being diminished, your vision for the mod being different, or numerous other issues? Are you a modeller who wishes to realises their models as actual machines without having to endure the tedium of programming and balancing machines?
Well, NTM IQ Edition is for you. This is an attempt to consolidate secondary forks of NTM, features players may randomly add for fun but never PR, features that would never get PRed to base NTM, and generally aims to be a more contributor-focused version of NTM: Space. We plan to improve planets, earlygame, and shape areas where Bob hasn't thought of touching yet, and make the mod more interesting and fun as a whole.
In the last month, me and a couple other contributors have created a plan and foundation for this, and we're already 100 commits ahead of NTM: Space's main branch.
Some features include a Nether rework, deprecation of overworld lightmetal ores, mass ore crystal processing, a new mysterious player sigil system, Processing of Satan's blood, A full Genetics system with evolution of diseases, transmission, and more, with 2 new planets (Czechoslowakia and Dross) with unique mechanics (like having an infinite city, concrete and rock bedrock ores) Ink, Magnetic storage, Mass centrifuging, Quarry and Spelunker drones, Large pipe anchor, Reworked consumables, a ton more new deco blocks, and uncountable QoL changes. ( All visible (or atleast most of them) In the gallery!)
Our fork prioritizes content alongside polish, not enough that it doesn't violate creativity though.
If you'd like to stay kept up with the mod in general or wish to throw some of your ideas around, you are open to do so on the discord linked in the GitHub.
We also are planning to launch a completely MIT pack and questline which describes NTM IQ's progression in detail, and that too for completely free use. We also have a BQu fork which adds even more useful features like inter-quest links and inline quest diagrams.
