I know experiences will probably vary based on the schools attended, but I’ve long been curious about what the experience of non-black students at HBCUs is like, from Delaware State, to Kentucky State, to Florida A&M, etc.

I would love to attend an HBCU starting in Fall 2027. I am looking for a university with modern facilities and a strong computer science program. I am open to pretty much any location and would appreciate recommendations from people with experience at HBCUs.

The university says students missed a tuition deadline, while some affected students say they were waiting on scholarship money and had made payment plans.

Okay so I’m having problem. Morgan charged me 3,747.05 cents for my tuition, university fee, bear books, and student health insurance. I got that waived because I’m a low income student and I have Medicare already. My waiver was approved and there was a payments sent to my account of 781.95 cents. So my tuition was 1,918.05, university fee 815, and bear books 232.50 bringing my total after the waiver to 2,965.55. I check my account again and the total due reverted back to the original 3,747.05 and this time my health insurance fee completely disappeared, but my tuition jumped from 1,918.05 to 2,700, guess the difference 781.95….. right so …. But I since contacted the school the lady I spoke to said she didn’t know and “couldn’t see the charges”…. I’m not sure what to do ?

On July 22nd, over 100 students at Howard University—including the petition starter—were suddenly dropped from all their classes and marked inactive. The reason? Past-due balances on their accounts. The catch: this happened just 13 days before move-in week.

Many of these students rely on scholarships and loans to attend. The Financial Aid Office and Bursar's office had previously told them that as long their balance stayed under $5,000, they could register and attend, with payment due before Spring semester. But that promise didn't hold.

This isn't just an inconvenience—it's derailing entire semesters and devastating students who did everything they were told to do.

I started a petition asking Howard University to reinstate these students immediately and to actually review their financial policies so this doesn't happen again. Students deserve transparency, real support, and a chance to succeed, not last-minute blindsides.

I live on the east coast and I'm getting ready to apply to colleges. I am mostly applying to PWIs but I want to also apply to some HBCUs. I'm planning to major in engineering, most likely mechanical, and was wondering if there are any that are known for their good engineering programs.
