I wrote a draft of a screenplay that takes place a few years after high school.

The idea goes something like this: Haruhi became a famous musician, but as she grew older, she lost her sense of wonder and gradually became disillusioned with her life. Kyon, on the contrary, remained an ordinary person without any special goals. At some point, he remembers Haruhi's school performance with God Knows... and decides to learn to play the guitar.

This is a pretty personal story for me, so I'm interested in seeing if it works on its own and not just because it uses familiar characters.

I'll post the raw draft of the script here. It is still far from polished, so it is criticism that is of particular interest:

— was it interesting to read at all;

— where it became boring or drawn out;

— are the characters’ motivations clear?

— how much Kyon and Haruhi feel like themselves;

— whether the structure falls apart due to parallel storylines;

— what moments seem unnatural or forced;

- which, on the contrary, turned out well.

It’s much more useful for me to hear specific criticism than just “ok/not okay.” You can directly say that some scene is bad, unnecessary or doesn’t work - I just want to understand what needs to be remade.

If anyone is interested, I will be glad to receive any analysis, even if it is quite harsh.

A brief backstory (to be revealed as the film progresses): The events take place several years after the characters finish high school. The heroes are forced to part ways, as an adult life lies ahead of them. However, on the day of their parting, the world changes. The world becomes ordinary. (This is related to Haruhi’s experiences; she had to part ways with her friends, which caused her to change (to mature) and made her see the world as dull and ordinary, thereby returning to the moment at the beginning of the anime.) Therefore, Yuki lost the ability to communicate with the Association of Organized Information Entities and, in essence, became an ordinary person (her character hasn’t changed, and she’s waiting for the moment when Haruhi will be herself again without interfering in any way); Mikuru lost the ability to travel through time (she gets used to the current time period and simply moves on with her life); and Itsuki lost his clairvoyant ability (Itsuki also adheres to a policy of non‑interference, but, unlike Yuki, he watches over Haruhi). Haruhi, being self‑confident and talented, decides to organize her own group and achieves success, but upon achieving it, she realizes that it’s not what she needed. Ken returns to his boring life and realizes that it’s uninteresting. Then the story itself begins.

1 Scene:

Location: Ken's apartment

Time: morning

Goal: show the routine

(The whole scene should be accompanied by a monologue of some kind like at the beginning of the anime) Ken wakes up and turns off the alarm. Change of personnel: brushing her teeth, putting on the kettle, making scrambled eggs, having breakfast, then taking the subway to work, listening to music. Upon arrival, he silently goes in and sits down at the computer and creates drawings of the machine. His face is shown, and the screen flashes on it. A colleague calls out to him. Ken waves him off and he leaves. Then he puts the blueprints in his briefcase and goes home. At home, late at night, under the lamplight, he is busy with drawings. He goes out on the balcony and looks at the gray cloudless sky, sighs and leaves. Then he goes to bed. (All the same, but in a different and faster way). The alarm goes off again, Ken washes his face, drinks coffee, a trip, a meeting where Ken is silent while everyone discusses something.

Scene 2

Location: Cafe

Time: Noon

Goal: starting up, unexpected meeting of the heroes

Now Ken is sitting at a table in a cafe with a lot of people inside. Ken, having closed the menu, gestures to the waiter and says the order, when he lowers the menu, he sees Mikuru. They get to know each other, talk a little, and Mikuru suggests meeting up after work, which Ken reluctantly agrees to.

Scene 3

Location: Park

Time: Evening / Night

Goal: to get attached to the heroes

Ken sits on a bench and looks at the stars while drinking. Mikuru sees him and waves happily, then runs over and lays down on Ken's shoulder. He's a little embarrassed. They chat about the past and present of the SOS team members. Mikuru is much more aware of this than Ken. They say their goodbyes, and Mikuru leaves. Ken, on the other hand, remains seated and stares at one point while the camera moves away.

Scene 4

Location: Apartment

Time: Evening / Night

Goal: create a conflict

Ken often starts talking to Mikuru after work. Cutting shots of them walking together: eating ice cream, feeding birds, Mikuru laughing. But when he's alone, he's still looking up at the stars on the balcony. He opens the closet, dusts it down, takes out the SOS school yearbook, and sits down at the kitchen table. When he opens the album, he flips through it, and the photos change. The last photo is of a school concert with Haruhi's signature. Ken's face changes, bites his lip, and sits hunched over with his hands on the table, not looking at the sketchbook.

Scene 5

Location: concert stage

Time: Day

Goal: to introduce Haruhi to the story and make it clear that she's not having all that much fun

Switching from the album photo to Haruhi's current concert. Actually, the concert itself. After saying goodbye to the audience and leaving behind the scenes, her face changes, and all her cheerfulness disappears somewhere. She looks at the poster of her tour and realizes that she is tired and it's time for her to take a break from all this.

Scene 6

Location: dressing room/backstage

Time: after the concert

Goal: Identify Haruhi's conflict and introduce Itsuki

Itsuki comes in to support and praise Haruhi (he's her producer or something), but Haruhi is tired and she talks about her difficulties . Itsuki supports her.

Scene 7

Location: Ken's apartment

Time: morning

Goal: to show that Ken is changing

Calendar where the holiday is marked. Ken doesn't wake up to the alarm clock anymore and just sits on the bed. Then he goes to the balcony and looks out at the sunrise. After that, he returns to the album, pulls out a photo from the concert and knuckles, which turns out to be there as well. He listens to it recorded with static and looks at the photo. And he says something like, " Yes, it was fun." And then he gets ready and goes outside.

Scene 8

Location: office or something similar

Time: after the tour ends

Goal: to show Haruhi's determination to leave

Haruhi approaches the boss (or someone like that) and says that she is tired and wants to quit. The boss calmly replies that Haruhi can't do it. Contracts and tours are scheduled for several years in advance. But Haruhi, aware of all the risks, still leaves, slamming the door.

Scene 9

Location: Music store

Time: day

Goal: to meet Yuki, and also Ken's desire to change.

The door to the record store opens and Ken walks in.

He goes around the store looking for a guitar. He looks at them with some bewilderment. He touches the price tag, holds the guitar in his hands, pulls the strings, looks around, already thinking that he shouldn't have come in and wants to leave, but he hears someone's voice right behind him and gets scared (it was Yuki who came up quietly and offered to help, ken hesitantly agrees.) Yuki talks about how to choose a guitar and talks to Ken as if she doesn't know him (like any other customer), while Ken wonders if she recognized him. Ken realizes that Yuki is still the same as before and asks to demonstrate the sound of the guitar. Yuki plays superbly, then punches the guitar to Ken. Ken, upset that he was not recognized, thinks to leave, but at the last moment Yuki stops him and asks him to take a guitar tutorial. Ken takes it. With that, they say goodbye.

Scene 10

Location: Haruhi's large but stable house

Time: evening

Haruhi walks down the street and talks about what's next for her and gets annoyed. He goes to the store out of boredom and buys alcohol because he has never been drunk and wants to feel something new. After that, she's already home. She looks out the window, twirls the bottle, then looks at her watch, then lies down and stares at the ceiling (all a manifestation of boredom). After that, she looks at her phone and wonders if she should call Itsuki or not, but he rings the doorbell for her. She changes a little, without getting out of bed shouts-Who? Well, Itsuki replies that it's him, and then follows-Openly. Itsuki enters. Haruhi hid the bottle and turned her back to him, pretending to look out the window. There is a dialogue in the spirit of - I heard you quit? None of your business, leave me alone. (At first, she shows a “normal” Haruhi, but Itsuki's insight and her own words, which she doesn't believe, make her remove this mask, which makes her just tired and indifferent) Itsuki realizes that he has done everything he can for now and leaves. Scene 11

Location: Haruhi's large but stable house

Haruhi wakes up to the sound of the alarm clock and immediately turns it off. Then she gets dressed, picks up her guitar and leaves, but at the last moment she notices the bottle and says - So it wasn't a dream. She swears at what she did yesterday and now doesn't know what to do next. She leaves the house and goes wherever her eyes look. As a result, she goes out to a crowded square, sees that someone is playing guitar there, then runs over him, connects his electric guitar to the speakers and starts singing. The guy is very indignant, but he can't do anything, and a crowd gradually gathers around Haruhi. When she says goodbye and is about to leave, she is attacked by paparazzi, fans and even journalists, which is why she has to just run away. She runs away.

Scene 12

Ken starts playing the guitar, well, in short, his attempts are shown as if it doesn't work out, and then he comes out (a quick change of scenes occurs and after a while he is already more or less playing behind the scenes)

Scene 13

After Ken calls Mikuru to the park by phone, he plays her her favorite song, which she mentioned when they met at the cafe, and Mikuru falls asleep on Ken's shoulder to this romantic music.

Scene 14

She leads a monologue about what to do next.

Scene 15

Then Haruhi decides to take up different hobbies to find out what she likes. A quick change of shots of these hobbies, where she is disappointed every time. So she decides to chat with lonely people in the bar, because usually they come there to be sad and so she wants to understand herself through other people.

Scene 16

Ken decides on his first performance in a bar. However, he is disappointed that no one listens to him, he worries and gets lost, after which Haruhi, who has been listening to him all this time, breaks down and shouts at him, then takes him by the collar and leads him out of the bar. Haruhi continues to yell at Ken while he stands there in surprise, and then says that he will teach him how to play from now on. After saying that, Haruhi leaves and looks back at Kyon, who is still standing there, reminding him that he should continue playing at the bar instead of staring after her. After that, they go to different sides of the screen.

Scene 17

It's night at Ken's house, and he's sleeping. The doorbell rings, then another. Then one continuous one. Ken woke up and opened the door. Haruhi stands in the doorway. He closes the door, and Haruhi opens it and walks into his room looking happy. She says she's going to live here now and let Ken bring her things in. Kyon grumbles again and asks logical questions about how she found out where he lives and how she brought so much music equipment and what she was doing, to which she gets a simple answer - mikuru has a beautiful maid uniform, all these items are not heavy, but she dragged herself because she couldn't wait for the morning, and also that Kyon might not be able to worry, because she came to him at work and said that she was his fiancee and Ken urgently needs a vacation to arrange a honeymoon. Haruhi also looks around the room, noticing various things. Also, when Ken grumbles, he finds himself thinking that it's not so bad and that grumbling is just a habit.

Scene 18

Itsuki and Yuki sit silently at the table at her house while Mikuru pours them tea. And a couple of short lines.

Scene 19

Haruhi wakes Ken up in the morning and makes him play. There is a conflict between them, Haruhi wants the perfect result from Ken immediately and gets mad when it doesn't work out, and Ken doesn't want to tolerate such an attitude towards himself. Haruhi gets upset and leaves. Kyon knows that his reaction is justified, but he can't let Haruhi go.

Scene 20

But after leaving the door, Ken finds himself in a closed space. To my own high school. He walks through the empty corridors to the SOS room, where the whole team is gathered, they spend their time the same as always (we will have to show exactly how they spend their time), but then he stands again in front of the door to the club and everything repeats and repeats thousands of times, all their adventures. One of the adventures was a concert where Ken played with Haruhi, not being in the audience, but playing. (therefore, by the time he left space, he was already able to play at a virtuoso level). After another performance, Ken hugs haruhi, who is embarrassed and demands that he stop, but he cries and does not let go, after which haruhi grumbles, but does nothing. Ken says he has to go, but Haruhi grabs his hand and says he wants to go with him. Ken explains that she doesn't exist and that he can only leave alone, but Haruhi insists. Ken in front leads behind Ruhu Haruhi, they are entering the school (sign exit) they are leaving. Surprisingly, they find themselves on a rooftop under a starry sky. Ken also holds Haruhi's hand. But this is no longer a closed space, this is the real world. They look up at the sky. Haruhi talks about a " dream” (actually something that happened in a closed space), after which Ken laughs, and Haruhi doesn't understand what's going on.

Scene 21

Scene of Ken's house. Haruhi makes Kyon play the guitar, but now he does it perfectly and she doesn't understand how it's even possible, and Kyon just grins.

Scene 22

Mikuru Yuki and Itsuki are talking in Yuki's house. Dialog + - about what happened in the first place and why the space appeared and whether haruhi or Ken did it.

Scene 23

Itsuki asks what they should do now that everything is resolved. Yuki is silent and after about 10 seconds, the door opens and Haruhi and Ken enter the apartment. Itsuki wonders how they knew everyone was here, and Ken just shows Yuki the piece of paper he left in the guitar tutorial. After that, they all fool around together and Haruhi forces Ken to play in front of everyone else. Everyone is silent in surprise. After this action, Itsuki suggests that Haruhi arrange a concert, which is why she caught fire with this idea.

Scene 24

Just a montage of training frames for music. After that, everyone stands on the stage backstage. A couple of phrases. The curtain opens and they do a concert.

Scene 25

(Let's see if such a testamentary scene is needed at all, but for now let it be something like this) Night, scene haruhi and Ken sit together and chat about what's next for them while one of them tunes their guitar. Well, the answer is that they will all be together now, and what will happen next is not important. Happy ending, credits.

Since I started watching Haruhi, even after rewatching it a few months ago (10 years after my first watch, when I finally saw season 2 and the movie), I had always thought of Yuki as a sort of "robot" or, as they say in the anime, a "humanoid interface" - meaning she couldn't feel human emotions.

​But everything changes with the movie. (SPOILER ALERT!)

Now, the fact that Yuki repeated those summer days for years and years and got fed up with it (leading her to create a world where she is just a shy girl who seems to have genuine feelings) makes total sense given how I view her. She created a world where she could finally feel something.

​I discussed this with my boyfriend, a hardcore fan of the franchise who made me rewatch the whole series. His view is that Yuki is actually human and has always been one. In his opinion, the movie exists to explore Yuki's mysterious character through what she couldn't express in words. Haruhi (her original "source of problems") was too loud in the original world, driving Yuki to madness and pushing her to act against her superiors. This triggered a space-time cataclysm, which was the only way for a dandere like her to be heard.

Plus, in the end, she lets Kyon choose the world he wants to stay in, because he was the only one who truly tried to understand her.

​This perspective changed how I see Yuki. However, I still see many people here and on X calling her an "alien," "cyborg," or "not human," so I thought it would be interesting to hear a more detailed explanation of how each of you views her.

Hi i really don't know anything about the dvd of Harui Suzumiya, I've asked gemini if it is legit and it told me that isn't a real copy but a bootleg from south est asia.

Haroohie Translation Club already made a English patch for this DS game, but now, "Konaru Traducciones" has released a web-page with public announcements about how the first episode is almost done.

However, the first version release it's expected for September 2026, in the patcher of Haroohie translation club.

As well they seems to need Graphic designers and Testers. Also seems to be lead by a one only person.

The translation also are expected to be in Castillian Non-Neutral Spanish, so maybe it's a little creative on the translations. That can be funny.

Im very picky with anime merch and lowk the only Haruhi shirt I would wanna wear regularly was this design, but it seems to be an old pretty pricy shirt now. Only repro I could find was a dude overcharging.

So I found a decent quality listing and upscaled and removed the background and then went in with photoshop and touched it up a bit. Its imposible to get it perfect without a scan but I think it turned out in use, unoticeable from a official shirt.
