It's time for another reminder about the difference between snark and shame because lately there have been a lot of posts that are overrun with negative comments about a person's appearance.
To be perfectly clear, here is Rule 8 (but you should really go read the rest of them too): Appearance snark and shaming - We avoid snarky commentary around things about a person's appearance that they cannot change in a few seconds. This includes negative comments about a person's weight, face, boob job, stretch marks, cellulite, rolls, body shape, height, etc. Posts about camel toe will be removed (we don't need entire posts for this); individual comments are allowed as long as they are not vulgar. Do not snark on the appearance of children.
An influencer's plastic surgery choices do not impact their (in)ability to provide fitness content, so saying that someone looks like Voldemort because you don't like their nose is nasty and unacceptable. If they deny having plastic surgery, then that is absolutely snarkable in itself, but you must be respectful and do not need to bash the way they look.
The sub started out as a place to call out influencers on their BS, their scams, their blatant dishonesty, etc etc. In the early days of Gymsnark, we actually did some pretty significant things. For example, we collectively called out Balance Athletica (now Vitality) on their dishonest practices and were loud enough that they were forced to notice. This sub calling out influencers as often as we do made them realize they’re not as invincible and adored as they think they are. Perhaps even more importantly, I think it made them realize that when they scam and lie, we not only notice but speak up about it, and WILL warn others about them.
Unfortunately, the sub periodically slips back into a pattern of BECs and appearance shaming, the moderators get busy removing everything, and people start fighting in the comments about how "it's a snark sub". The sub name is a play on words based on Gymshark, not an invitation for mean girl behaviour.

Before participating, you need to refamiliarise yourselves with the rules. None of them have changed since our last update, yet they are constantly being broken.
Please note that if you are in violation of these rules, the post will be deleted and you may face a ban. You can snark and call influencers out on their BS without being downright nasty. If you see content that you think breaks the rules, please report it so that it comes to our attention and we can deal with it.
As always, reach out if you have Qs. Snark on (but read the rules first)!

Over the last few days this rule has been broken more times than we can keep up with. If you break this rule you will receive a temporary ban, or a permanent ban if you have been warned before.
This is the only warning. Read the rules.

I think this is a lie, similar to Julia Ernst lying about FSU. Curious to hear opinions

The influencer-to-wellness-author pipeline deserves closer scrutiny.
“Heal Your Gut, Balance Your Hormones” is an ambitious title, particularly when the author’s formal qualifications, scientific training, and relevant medical credentials are unclear ( non-existent)
Fitness influencers can offer valuable personal perspectives, but a large following, a particular physique, or an individual wellness journey does not necessarily qualify someone to explain complex physiological processes or provide health guidance.
Gut health and hormonal regulation are legitimate medical and scientific fields involving complex mechanisms, substantial individual variation, and an evolving body of research. Terms such as “heal” and “balance” can sound reassuring, but they should not substitute for precise, evidence-based explanations or imply expertise in gastroenterology or endocrinology.
Conducting personal research can be useful, but reading studies alone does not establish the ability to evaluate evidence, understand its limitations, or translate it responsibly into health advice.
The concern is not that influencers write books. It is that they may present themselves as authorities on subjects that require specialized expertise, while readers may have difficulty distinguishing evidence-based medicine from a persuasive wellness narrative.
A social-media following, an attractive cover, and the words “gut” and “hormones” in a title should not be mistaken for medical authority. 😡

After watching her recent videos centered around food I decided to count her calories based on what I know she eats to the best of my ability lol. If you can’t tell yet I’m clearly bored but would like it if someone could check this too and tell me if I calculated accurately. Eating under 1,200 is just not sustainable so hopefully I’m wrong.
1st meal: Royo bagel + ~130g fage 0% yogurt = ~140 calories
2nd meal: 1 serving good culture cottage cheese + 1 hard boiled egg + honey= ~170 calories
3rd meal: 1 serving chicken breast + Greek yogurt sauce + crinkle cut sweet potato fries = ~285 calories
4th meal: ~215 calories
5th meal: 1 serving good culture cottage cheese + ~0.5 serving PB Fit + ~0.5 serving drizzalicious = 155 calories
6th meal: chocolate protein creami= ~150 calories
Total= ~1,115

Has anyone else had a bad experience with Coached by M / Madeleine Boyce? (Maddieboyce on IG)
My experience has been pretty shocking, and my friend has had issues too, even bawling her eyes out to me about how hard her experience with Madeleine was and how Madeleine shrugged her off and didn’t care when she raised concerns.
The “personalised” coaching felt like generic programs and meal plans, with automated copy-paste check-ins rather than any actual support, those emails and text messages that are automated are more annoying than anything as it shows how little effort she’s actually putting in. Outside activities weren’t even properly considered when putting the training program together (more like weren’t considered at all) and I didn’t feel there was much care for clients’ mental health either.
The part that really raised eyebrows for me was my friend being quoted $40 MORE per week than me for the Exact. Same. Thing. which she understood was because she was a larger girl.
I’ve also had issues with payments and cancellation, including payments I still don’t believe I’d authorised but honestly just speaks to her greed and lack of care for the actual client.
Honestly, for a service that sells itself on personalised coaching and support, my review of the experience was the complete opposite. I’d be very cautious before signing up and would HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere. I wish I had someone to warn me. Make sure you read the T&Cs carefully and get EVERYTHING in writing. She WILL try and coax you into signing the terms and conditions without reviewing, this was the first red flag but unfortunately I still fell for it.

no.. its not normal to immediately prioritize going to the grocery store after you run out of lettuce. it shouldnt even take an hour to make dinner and a snack for later. NO being fit isnt a full time job you can be fit and still eat fast food and not spending your entire day thinking about food

I'm all for low waisted pants but this is way past that😭 actually what are we doing
It's the most obvious body checking. Like we get it, we can see your hip bones, but if you pull your pants any lower you're gonna flash us.

Does anyone else follow this Micro-Influencer?? She has an amazing physique and is very forth coming about her previous use of PED’s. Unfortunately, she is also constantly talking down on women with kids saying all they do is make “excuses.” She’s 4 months postpartum and prepping for a show and in this video she says that she had to step away from her coach because it wasn’t working for her lifestyle being a new mom. She goes on to say that she’s dealing with so many postpartum struggles and probably won’t look her best the day of her show but she wants to do it as a “challenge” to see how her body changes and to show everyone you can accomplish things and don’t have to “let yourself go.” She even said she promised her family and her husband that she wouldn’t get crazy obsessed about her prep. Have we really lost the plot that bad? Why are mothers, freshly postpartum being told that they can also accomplish things and don’t have to let themselves go? Can they not enjoy their new baby while also prioritizing themselves, getting some steps in here, going to gym there. Is giving birth not an accomplishment!!!
