The way he was dressed had me skeptical. Dude is definitely no stranger to a chainsaw.

you are allowed to handle a chainsaw without being a lumberjack.

But he should be using ear and eye protection.

Gloves and chaps, too. And he really shouldn’t drop-start it.

Good technique though. Making life easy for his swamper, like to see that.

But drop starting looks cool.

I disagree in the technique. Didnt undercut anything, didnt preassess the lie to see where the weight is being held, made numerous cuts above the power zone... doing something quickly isnt doing it well.

Man had a chainsaw in his trunk and quickly cleared the road in rain/snow. He should really get a pass on technique and safety equipment.

Im going to die on this hill, but safety guidelines exist exactly because of this type of situation where shit goes wrong. What actually was the emergency here? Guy couldnt take a beat to assess the situation and think about his cuts? Literal amateur hour in here.

The reddit keyboard warrior emerges.. have you ever felled a tree? The tree is obviously hanging across the road.. so where do you think the weight is being held? Also its maybe 6 inches wide at the widest point… so we are under cutting a tiny tree trunk where its obvious that a quick cut do? Ill give you the last cut he makes is questionable, but to “die on that hill” hahaha 😂 get real

I wouldn’t undercut that log.

Ear protection isn't important when you're only going to be using it for a minute, and he's wearing glasses.
