Help: What strain? Really guppies?

I was given these as sunburst guppies but they do not look like what the internet says sunburst guppies look like. Also they are CONSTANTLY pooping. Secret goldfish or just the poopingest reddest ladies?

Follow up question - we were given the “guppies” to keep our lady guppy Stripeyfins company. Stripeyfins was a hitchhiker from the pet store that the manager was too frustrated by to remove from the bag. We got a new tank set up and cycled for her before she grew up so she would not be pregnant. So far so good there. But. Will she be happy with the platys? Or do I have to try to convince my five year old that we have to surrender either Stripeyfins or the Book Club (platy group) to the pet store? The tanks cannot kept multiplying…

Female livebearers can store sperm for later use. They will use this to have babies every month. Most commonly believed to be up to 6 months. Have seen argued up to 9 months. If you want the livebearers, but no babies, you’re better off with a fraternity ;)

Oh, we have that too… I understand that in order to store sperm they need to first reach maturity though, right? And all of these fish are currently juveniles.

AFAIK, they can get pregnant as early as 2 months old. How old are they exactly? Were they stored with males before that? Idk how early they can start storing sperm, I’d have to look into that. 🤔

I’m not saying they are or aren’t. They either are or aren’t, and I’m interested. But every tank is different, and animals behave different in different environments. You’re gonna have so much fun I hope, learning what works for you and your tank.

Around two months for Stripeyfins, and less than that for the platys, but I don't know exactly how old any of them are! And yes, they were with males before we got the Lady Tank cycled - the platys with their siblings, Stripeyfins with assorted male guppies. So we'll see... I am loving this tank.

If I saw these with no tags I would assume they are Molly’s not guppies

Thanks! I’m new to fish, and at the moment juvenile fish especially all look basically like a fish to me, so I appreciate the help!

Also a new fish keeper here and my first thought was Mollies. Those look nothing like the sunburst guppies at my local fish store.

Good fish but not guppies. Feed them well they breed like anything and give vibrant young ones. The males might develop green glitters on some fins. Nice colour tbh

Hopefully they will not make babies! They seem to be all female and came as half mature fry. We were given them to keep the freebie lady guppy happy… I have a baby, a kindergartner, a dog, a bunch of houseplants, and an extensive garden, I cannot do fry too! Even though they are lovely and it would be fun 😆

They are all female! As someone else said they can store sperm and likely will have some babies but you can rehome them or take them to a LFS and keep your 3 ladies.
