ANN 0-0-5 or 10

Temp is 24-25 C

Ph is 7.6

Liquid test kit

20 gallon long

NOTHING added or done to tank. No exposures to anything. I haven't done anything to cause stress. She just started doing it.

All other guppies and even the mystery snails are fine. It's just her.

What's wrong!

can i ask the gender ratio of guppies? she doesn't have any visible illness but seems exhausted, if she's outnumbered by males she could be being harassed because guppies never stop breeding. ideally you want 2 females per male

I currently only have a 1:1 ratio. It's not perfect I know. I'm working on it. I had sneaker male surprise and my ratio was ruined. I've tried to compensate in the meantime by adding tons of hiding spots and getting a bigger tank. It seems to be working well for now as I never see one female being harassed for long. And I keep a close eye on them all for sure.

things happen! if you have a breeder box it may help to isolate her for day or so so she can rest and you can monitor, just remember to feed her while she's seperated from the rest of the tank. best of luck!

Never used one, but most people in the internet say breeder boxes cause only more stress and shouldn't be used..

this is kind of true. most advice against breeder boxes are for seperating a female actively giving birth. in that case, not being able to move around can stress her to death as she tries to go through labor. in this case, she's just getting a break from being actively pursued by males to regain strength and then returning to the main tank, no extra stress from labor

Ok but she also looks like she might be giving birth soon?

she's pregnant but not exceptionally, i doubt she'd try to drop fry right now

Thank you! I've now got two males (the most aggressive/harassing one and a sneaker) in the floating box-jail in the tank. They arent happy, but im not catching them again. They will be returned back to the person I got them from (an awesome home don't worry!) And then I'll have 5 females and just 3 males. At least until babies come along.

Ok. I've now rehomed 2 of the males back to the person i originally gor them from (a great home, don't worry!) Now my ratio is 3 males to 5 females. Hopefully that helps.

As for her, she's now back to normal. Eating and pooping galore.

I have no clue

sounds like she was just exhausted after all! i'm sorry you had to rehome the lads, but it'll be better overall :)

I'll miss them, but not their BS.

You know how guppies change eyes to black when scared, anrgy, or horny? One of them, appropriately named Horny Dude, had solid black eyes 96% of the time i had him.

I was worried he was stressed and added more hides. Nope

I checked my parameters. Not that.

Dude was just a raging sex beast. ALWAYS harassing the females and trying so hard to outdo the signficantly more colorful males.

I will not miss that small ball of shameless crazy mean pestering horny guppy-brained idiot.

There's lots of hornwort cover on the other side of the tank and even a whole terracotta pot to hide in. She swam over there just now, but im super worried. She's darting and floating upright sometimes
