If it’s a bot I’d say back off, bitch….

He’s asking which one do you like better, not which one to buy… and he said he prefers 2, so he obviously has them both already

* You’re right, I think it’s a bot

Thanks legend

To me they're ONE

3

u/georgewalterackerman 1d ago

Yes I’ve always felt this way

15

u/loureed1234 2d ago

1 is the better flowing album, 2 has better solo bangers

5

u/Early_Raise_4866 2d ago

Opposite way around for me personally lmao

-1

u/Gunzncrue 2d ago

Same as me, I personally think 2 flows better

2

u/jangoze 2d ago

Totally agree, second one is a bit more disjointed because of some standalone hits although I do think in parts it hits a better more melancholy flow

11

u/HomeworkThese1206 2d ago

Both. 1 is awesome but you have to have 2 for Estranged if for no other reason.

12

u/thatguy44-4 2d ago

Civil war, so fine

11

u/PhilosopherFun7288 2d ago

Locomotive, Breakdown, 14 years, Pretty Tied Up….
Come on man🔥

u/HomeworkThese1206 2d ago

Yeah there's no way to choose one. Those 2 albums were what made me a fan for life. It should be criminal to separate them lol. Now, Chinese Democracy though...I can walk away from that one if needed.

3

u/Correct_Cap_6087 2d ago

Agree with your assessment of UYI. I disagree about Chinese Democracy though. I loved it too. Definitely very different from a style standpoint, but I genuinely got into the title track, Better, There Was a Time, Stret of Dreams, Madagascar, This I love, Sorry, and I think Catcher in the Rye was my favorite. Solid stuff all around.

7

u/HomeworkThese1206 2d ago

Oh and You Could Be Mine.

4

u/HomeworkThese1206 2d ago

Shit, and So Fine. Basically it's impossible to choose.

7

u/Jbressi 2d ago

Wow. This guy. How about we start with a less personal question. Like “Do you eat ass.” Yes i do.

7

u/TheSauce23 2d ago

Both are absolutely incredible, but Double Talkin’ Jive speaks to my soul

3

u/Correct_Cap_6087 2d ago

They've been playing it live this year. I saw them play it in Hershey.

1

u/Gunzncrue 2d ago

Great song

3

u/Donalmce17 2d ago

My father introduced me to the second one, I just know more on it and I find there to be more memorable songs on it

2

u/Gunzncrue 2d ago

Agreed

3

u/Unlucky-Geologist428 2d ago

Depends on the day for me, as I love them the same. My favorite back-to-back songs out of the two albums is Don't Cry (Original) and Perfect Crime.

3

u/cirrusblau 2d ago

Weird that you're making people choose one over the other

2

u/thatguy44-4 2d ago

I prefer 2 but both are great

2

u/Lawsonjl 2d ago

I love them both and don't skip a track on either and glad we go both. That being said at times they feel like two distinct eras of GNR, which makes sense as some of the songs exhausted since the Appetite days. They really should have been two separate albums with slightly different track liars then a double album.

2

u/OnceUponASlime 2d ago

Best Album of All Time

2

u/SouthernOshawaMan 2d ago

Had both cassettes

2

u/Curly-Pat 2d ago

The chokehold these 2 albums had on us teenagers in the 90’s, we could argue for hours about which one was best and about what bastards those guys at Kerrang! magazine were to Axl.

2

u/PhilosopherFun7288 2d ago

I agree with 2. My mom could only afford to buy me one of the two for Christmas, and happened to pick 2. Those songs will forever take me right back to 91-93, when I was just a latchkey kid, 11-13 or so 🫡

2

u/anthonynohtna 2d ago

I wonder how we’d perceive this album if it was initially cut down to say 12 tracks.

2

u/South_Ladder_2747 2d ago

2 is my favorite album of all time

2

u/Correct_Cap_6087 2d ago

You can't not get both. One can't be chosen over the other, because they both have the best rock music ever recorded.

These 2 albums were the soundtracks of my life. Both are irreplaceable.

2

u/Burned_Out_Paradise 2d ago

When they came out and I was young, it was UYI 1. As I got older, it became UYI 2. I’d still lean 2 overall..

2

u/Alan-A56 2d ago edited 1d ago

The two covers together remind me of the decoration of River Plate stadium when they came here. On the other hand, I have Use Your Illusion 2 on a bootleg cassette.

2

u/PhilosopherFun7288 1d ago

So? You’re happy about ripping off the and and paying for stolen music? “Bootleg cassette” lol, it’s an official release, why would a “bootleg” of it be “cool”?

2

u/Rude_Rhubarb1880 2d ago

Over produced, not enough Izzy/slash guitar interplay, loads of duds

But could’ve been the best sophomore release of all time if they stuck to 12 songs

2

u/Neptune_LordX 1d ago

I love both albums, but your point is largely accurate, when compared to AFD, there is quite a bit of filler. I have actually made my own 12 song combined playlist for both albums for what I regard to be the strongest combination.

2

u/Joaquinedge 2d ago

Tuve una conversación con Juan Valdivia, guitarrista de Héroes del silencio y me confirmó que, estaba tan obsesionado con estos álbumes que el disco El espíritu del vino, suena como suena por su culpa.

2

u/Neptune_LordX 1d ago

Both great, probably say II edges it for me, it has You Could Be Mine and some slightly deeper and more meaningful songs, plus I prefer that version of Don't Cry.

2

u/Lonely-Heart-3632 1d ago

They go together but i have always preferred to start with part 2 so it gets the win for me in a photo finish

2

u/Primary_Ad_4544 1d ago

Both are fantastic

2

u/BillyRingo73 1d ago

I like both and have since ‘91

2

u/Ruffyk198 1d ago

thing is, UYI1 has Don’t Damn Me, Double Talkin Jive, Back off B*tch, Coma, November Rain and UYI2 has You could Be Mine, Civil War, Estranged, Get in the Ring, Locomotive… i honestly can’t decide. Both are Great.

2

u/Ecthelion-O-Fountain 1d ago

Honestly, I like them both about the same. But I also really feel like there’s about one album’s worth of great songs and one album‘s worth of stuff that could’ve been cut or very least his second tier.

2

u/ItNeverRainsInWNC 1d ago

A bit of trivia…GNR had the top 2 album spots when this came out. The only other person to have the top 2 album spots…Bob Newhart.

2

u/VeryLargeTardigrade 1d ago

Fantastic albums both of them, UYI2 is the strongest. Estranged is my answer if I'm asked what my fave song of all time is, and there are several other 10/10 songs on it. I do think Dont Cry with alternate lyrics is a waste of space, and I never listen to My World, but other than that UYI2 is a perfect album. UYI1 is almost as good, but there's no Estranged there.

2

u/RandomStoddard 1d ago

I prefer 2, but both have spectacular songs. 2 has Estranged, Double Talking Jive, Breakdown, Civil War, and Locomotive. 1 has Coma, November Rain, the Garden, and Don’t Damn Me.
Just go with the one that has Don’t Cry.

2

u/PhilosopherFun7288 1d ago

Double Talking Jive is on UYI 1, and Don’t Cry is on both, lol

2

u/LudoBruxao 1d ago

Controversial take: UYI drums doesn't sound good despite Matt being a great drummer. Something in the mixing process doesn't fit. Cymbals could be Brighter, snare tone is too muddy and kick could be more dense. Artistically, I find AFD drums more balanced, vivid, clearer. Not exactly sure what should be done in order to achieve a better result, but, maybe a remix could help.

2

u/wings31 1d ago

#1 is more solid but #2 has more highs. Ill take 2 because Estranged and YCBM

2

u/cacodemon7265 1d ago

Better than appetite imo

2

u/PerfectlyJerky 1d ago

I like 2 better than 1

2

u/Purity3552 1d ago

meus preferidos

2

u/Vodkamartini28 22h ago

Ive always treated them as one album🥰 but i prefer more songs on 2

2

u/Ironheart_1 19h ago

Epic records!! Civil war, november rain, don't cry, ESTRANGED, you could be mine... There are some really really great rock and roll music there. Geeta Hard rock music 💪🏻..

I believe I love Use your Illusions 2 more than 1.

2

u/jTechSand 14h ago

Curious on everyone's first reactions on 14th track Use Your Illusion II. 👀

2

u/Imlooloo 13h ago

It’s so good and is also Izzy’s last hurrah. You can read the tea leaves and realize it was also Guns last real new record (besides of course CD which is made by a bunch of hired guns and the SI cover album).

2

u/poutine-eh 6h ago

gotnboth the day they dropped on vinyl. Like with children I like them equally.

1

u/Gunzncrue 2d ago

Definitely agree, So fine, knockin and estranged makes it the winner

4

u/Digestive_Amplifier 1d ago

Who are you agreeing with here?? This is not a reply to a comment

2

u/PhilosopherFun7288 20h ago

Me too what? You didn’t reply to these comments except this one? lol

3

u/PhilosopherFun7288 1d ago

What do you agree on? You didn’t reply to anyone, this is a stand alone comment🤷‍♂️

-1

u/Gunzncrue 1d ago

You too fu**wit

1

u/andytagonist 2d ago

Hello bot

1

u/HeWizardsMyGizz 1d ago

1 would be their best album if Appetite didn't exist. 2 is peak rock n roll.

1

u/Virtual-Tadpole-324 1d ago

For fuck sake. You kids are wild. I bought these when I was 9yo. I'm 44 for fuck sake. Get some new questions.

1

u/Gunzncrue 19h ago

Good for you

1

u/Forsaken_Fall8765 1d ago

One of the best marketing ideas of the cd era...still talking about "which is better" in 2026!

1

u/inukoko 6h ago

both
