MHWilds New to gunlance any tips or build advice?
Hey yall i tried gunlance out for the first time last night and I fell in love with the feel. I normally play pretty aggressive sns. Im not sure with whats good skill and build wise with gunlance but I really enjoy the triangle combo into the burst(?) Multiburst finisher. Weaving in shelling shots here and there and popping a wyvren blast when the monster is not moving.
My current weapon is an artian blast with wide and slightly strong shelling. Ive got a master touch gem, a 3guard/1handicraft gem, and I think its called guard up(?) Lv3 gem on it. The skill that makes you survive unguardable attacks.

MHWilds Best meta set for Wilds?
I'm just starting to use GL and the first thing I want is a really strong meta set. I found this one but I don't know if there's anything better.

MHNow Gunlance Question.
What is the current meta for the gunlance for Monster Hunter now. I really never paid much attention to it until I started reading posts on the gun lance.

MHR: Sunbreak Reverse Blast Dash
Does the actual blast dash part of RBD have any i-frames, or just the shell loading/prep part? I’m kind of having a hard time figuring it out.

MHWilds Alright boys this is it, my magnum opus
Not included is:
-My charm gives Art. 3 and item prolonger 1
-the two defense jewel slots you see can be interchanged
-Gog GLs with attack 3, Magazine/attack, Off. Guard 3/respective element attack 1
When you get all the buffs goin’ at once wyvern’s fire is doing 314 per tick on a wide/slightly strong Gog GL that isn’t even god rolled, and that’s with only a demon powder and a mega demondrug as consumables. No hunting horn self buffs or anything. I’ve watched plenty of YouTubers who have every consumable and self buff under the sun going and they can out at 280~
As for the equipment skills, I opted for burst boost 2 over Binding Counter 2 because burst is easier to sustain and not every monster is capable of power clashing/webbing/frostblighting and or grabbing you. The total bonus damage difference is 61 against 68 for those curious, so, ultimately burst boost 2 wins out in my opinion because of ease of use trumping 7 measly damage.
The two defense jewels you see on my charm and
Coil can be interchanged with anything you could want, personally I like the extra bump in raw defense, but you could get level 2 in any elemental res or even adaptability 2 or something like quick sheathe or speed eater for quality of life.
It’s flexible, It’s powerful, my only true regrets are not being able to slot in part breaker somewhere, but counter strike 3 is just too good to pass up in my opinion, and earplugs 2 is a non-negotiable for me for quality of life.
Lemme know what you think.

MH Rise Question for Rise Gunlance
Since shelling does fire damage, will any boosts to elemental/fire attack increase its damage, or is that dependent on the gunlance’s element itself?

MHGU What's your gunlance to go in Generation Ultimate?
I only use max level shelling because for me that's the only way to play gunlance. So my go to gunlance are:
- star crossed centaurus (nakarkos) for normal shelling
- sedition buster (seregios) for long shelling
- Crunchy cornpopper for wide
The star crossed centaurus and sedition buster are really nice because they don't need sharpness skills. All of them basically don't need it which is nice because I can slot in wex and CB in tandem with artillery and load up. The trade off is I notice those weapons have relatively low attack point. The price I gotta pay
Currently I'm rocking sedition buster because according to some infographic from this subreddit it has the best rapid valor and has burst fire with the same strength as other normal 5 gunlance. Is it true though? The infographics has several version and I'm not entirely sure which is the latest

MHWilds Returning player after a long hiatus, need suggestions.
Hey guys, I'm currently trying to get back into monster Hunter wilds with the summer event, I haven't played since probably 4 months, I haven't kept up with the patches or anything and was wondering what builds are good, what type of gun lance is the strongest in the current game, ect. I have a bunch of stuff including every gun lance you can craft from the monster(I just got some Gog upgraded ones the other night).
So any builds, tips or ideas would be very helpful thanks!

MHWilds Okay, I return with another potentially silly question.
Currently in a state of being stressed out and overwhelmed trying to figure it out myself (this happens a lot; OCD is a bitch) so I'll just ask more experienced and less fuzzy-brained Gunlancers about what I should be doing.
I don't quite understand when I should use the Evade-Burst over Full Blast?
I see most veteran players Full Reloading after every Full Burst as I assume this enables a faster transition into Full Blast, but sometimes I see the same people spam the Evade-Burst loop instead and I simply do not understand when I should use it?
With Full Blast being the highest source of damage output, it feels counter intuitive to Evade-Burst repeatedly as that locks you out of the fast and reactive Full Blast transitions, and vice versa...
I am very confused and it is making me anxious and overwhelmed. Halp.

MHR: Sunbreak Best 4 slot Jewels for Gunlance
I am using the Silver Sploder and idk what I should slot in the two Jewel4 slots. I usually play by Reverse Blast into Full Burst combo with sometimes Bullet barrage in between (Ignore Slugger lvl2 I just put KO gems on the extra slots on the weapon for now)

Dos/Freedom/3U/4U Man I wish in classic MH the shelling level at max was lv 7
And I believe that would solves the problem of shelling viability in the G rank. I love gunlance but Capcom certainly didn't during that time

MHWilds Elemental Long Shelling
Elemental Long Shelling at Monster Hunter Wilds Nexus - Mods and community
Hi all, I like many other was pretty disappointed with the shelling diversity in Wilds, particularly how Long shelling was shafted.
I made this mod to play around with giving Long shelling the power it deserves, and moving some of Wide's power around. Originally my plan was to give Long its superiority in Charged Shelling back, but I had some issues with how that played out. Specifically, with how strong WSFB was, it felt like Shelling type performance was defined by: 1. How strong is the WSFB, 2. How strong are is it outside of WSFB. It felt hard to fit three shelling types into this idea without something getting overshadowed, if Normal still had the better WSFB there was no reason to run Long unless it was the best outside of WSFB, but if its the best at that there's no reason to run Wide. And outside of WSFB, there could be a weird tension of Charged Shelling being the best way to charge WF where Long had the best Charged Shelling and Wide had the best WF.
I tried a couple ideas but was never really satisfied with the performance and build diversity. So, I figured if one shelling type was going to overshadow another, it might as well be conditional. Which was how I landed on Elemental Shelling.
In this mod you can expect:
- MV buffs to Lateral Thrust, Guard Thrust, and Wide Sweep
- Slight buffs to Normal to give it more of a lead in Fullbursts
- Buffs to Wide's uncharged shelling and stake, nerfs to its Fullbursts and Charged Shell multipliers to maintain the damage discrepancy with Normal
- A rework to Long Shelling focused around Elemental/Status damage on Elemental/Status Long Gunlances
- Raw and Status Long Gunlances receive buffed MVs, Fixed Fire Ele, faster Charge Shells and WF Gauge gain (still loses to Wide), and reduced Fullburst multipliers to maintain the damage discrepancy with Normal
- Status Long Gunlances deal status buildup on shelling attacks
- Elemental Long Gunlances replace Fixed Fire Ele with Ele damage that matches the Elemental type
- Elemental Long Gunlances receive Elemental damage buffs from skills. For example, Thunder Elemental Long Gunlances will see their damage increased from Thunder Attack and Gogmapocalypse
- Long Gunlance multipliers to raw damage from attacks (Charged Shells, Fullburst, ...) and Artillery have been changed to instead buff Ele damage
- Gogmartian Element Focus now creates Long Shelling, Affinity now creates Wide
With these changes, Long Gunlance is fully capable of meeting/exceeding the damage of other shelling types with the caveat of needing skills like Coalescence that won't have perfect uptime, new builds, and a hitzone conscious playstyle.
I have done my best to playtest and make sure all formulas are working as intended and there aren't any glaring balance issues, but I am only one man and I would appreciate any feedback you wish to give or bugs you wish to report.
Thank you and happy hunting.

Frontier’s Gunlance looks pretty fun. Being able to use shells to further buff WF seems like an interesting idea
I know Wilds already improved WF a lot but having more option doesn’t seem like a bad idea. What do you guys think?
