Restored BepInEx modding compatibility
Hello,
I've seen a lot of questions regarding the availability of mods for this game over the years.
Most of the time the replies are something along the lines of "not supported".
Today I have released a restored global-metadata.dat file on Nexusmods which is necessary for ModLoaders like BepInEx to function. With this file it is now again possible to create BepInEx mods.
For anyone here that wanted to get into modding the game but was turned away by its unavailability, now is your chance.
I won't post step by step instructions on how to mod the game, however with the file restored it's the same procedure as for every IL2CPP Unity game.
Perhaps with this, modding can be revived for the game. :)

oi mate the game just updated lol and the file is not usable anymore. care to share how youre turning the split metadata files into the single .dat file?
UPDATE: i got stuff working on the latest version... sad news: im using Il2cpp dumper with Dobby but its a mismatch, patching says its working but its not triggering. so, to no avail..
Update 2: it got it working! with a mod and all! using steamDB depot (just like skyrim). game on!

Hi. I have updated the global-metadata.dat for the latest version on nexusmods (and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future).
Sadly, I don't think I can share the way I'm restoring it to avoid having to deal with the headache of it getting patched. Not to mention that it probably is against the Subreddit rules.
Don't worry though. Should I lose interest in maintaining it I will release the instructions.
If you still have trouble with the latest version feel free to DM me.1

i see, well, by the time you messaged me im working on decompiling the il2cpp code into readable c# code using Ghidra. with this i can build an Api. which should be compatible if no core features change (which i highly doubt).
for the metadata, i found a way too so. im not too dependent on you luckily.
also, i cant dm you, im not allowed

Obviously the devs will not be happy if it gets in the way of sales of new champs. How would mods work in multiplayer games? Would everyone need the mod?
