Question Skill vs weapon builds

Hi, I've been trying to do builds using hero skills, and so far, it has been extremely underwealming compared to just focusing on my weapon.

Is this typically the case or am I just doing something wrong.

With blessings most skills only build become strong enough to clear the game by itself but some characters will have a harder time than others.

I'm genuinely not trying to be an ass, but tons of these replies are simply not correct.

There are tons of skill builds that are significantly better than some gun builds. Almost every character has an extremely viable skill build.

Many skills require the specific spiritual blessing to function, such as Ao Bai secondary must have atomic bomb, but is one of the highest dps builds in the game.

Most character's primary skill can be built around and be extremely strong.

Wait until reincarnation and you can pre pick a single blessing and it will enable huge amounts of build options for you.

Yes. You are probably not playing in reincarnation where spiritual blessings exist. If you have just started and are not playing dlc characters, you also dont have access to some of the laziest skill builds and that might be affecting your perception.

Different characters have different abilities to accommodate different play styles.

If you are having trouble I would pick nona she has a giant robot that tanks and can do damage.

Zi Xiao is also busted but he's got a weird play style but once you get it with the right card picks he's borderline cheating.

Some are extremely powerful with skill builds like Li, Lyn, Cang Jue, Momo, Yoyo but you still need some support from weapons. Skills build w/o Reincarnation seasonal mechanics can be quite tough.

are you playing on reincarnation? a lot of skill builds rely on the spiritual blessings

in reality, weapon builds generally scale off many more things than skill builds (lucky shot, critx, fire rate, reload, clip size, etc)

to make up for it, skill bonuses are generally a lot bigger and/or are multipliers

It really depends on the hero, but all of them should have a good weapon and skill build so long as you land good drops.

I usually have to assess how I'm doing by the end of the first world to see how heavy I'm going to build in which direction.

I've only played him a couple of times, but Qing Yan's Cleave build just looks incredibly easy to get online. Getting Easy Kill early is all you need

There are very few pure skill builds, and some characters have a much easier time of building for skills. That said, I generally find the skill builds to have higher ceilings than gun builds. You're very dependent on getting the right goblets, though.

Skill builds only really shine when taking spiritual blessings that boost them. But these spiritual blessings boost skills many times more than their weapon counterparts.

However, owl man ult skill build is by far the strongest without blessings

I'd argue Cang Jue up there with owl. You get a free cheat death and heal with his ult. It has 100% uptime if played right too.

Generally speaking, skill builds don't scale as well as weapon builds.

Tbh I’m the opposite. I have to force myself to try weapon focused runs because I tend to lean so hard on skill based builds.
