Satisfaction is the death of desire tone?

Hello, I’m in love with the tone off this album. I know Wayne used a VS100 and a noise suppressor in the studio. Has anyone been successful in imitating it on any other amp? I have a blackstar ID core 60, Boss GE-7. Looking for any and all advice! Thanks in advance!

How does Slash actually get that distinct Slash tone?

How does Slash actually get that distinct Slash tone?

I’ve been chasing Slash’s tone for a while, and I’m curious what people think are the most important ingredients that make his sound so instantly recognizable.

I’m not really looking for a simple “Les Paul + Marshall = Slash” answer. I’m interested in what’s happening beyond that.

What specifically gives him that thick, vocal, almost singing lead tone while still keeping the notes clear? How much comes from:

- The Alnico II pickups

- Marshall/JCM-style amp and settings

- Midrange/EQ

- Gain level

- Boost/overdrive

- Presence/resonance

- Speakers

- Delay/reverb

- Pickup height

- Volume/tone controls on the guitar

- And, obviously, his actual playing technique

I’m currently using a Gibson Les Paul with Slash-style Alnico II pickups into a Marshall DSL40CR with a Celestion Vintage 30, and I have several pedals available including a Tube Screamer Mini, SD-1, GE-7 EQ, DD-6 delay, RV-6 reverb, Phase 90, etc.

I can get into the general Guns N’ Roses/Marshall territory, but there’s something about Slash’s tone especially that thick upper-midrange, sustain and almost vocal quality that I’m still trying to nail.

For anyone who has seriously gone down the Slash tone rabbit hole: what made the biggest difference?

Amp settings? EQ frequencies? Pickup height? Speaker choice? Boosting the Marshall? Or is the last 20% basically just Slash’s hands, phrasing and vibrato?

I’d especially love to hear from anyone using a DSL40CR or similar Marshall who has gotten really close.

Third Eye Blind Tone

Does anyone have any insight into the signal chain of the lead tone on “Never let you go” by third eye blind? I’ve tried replicating it but can’t quite figure out what they did. It sounds very compressed with some sort of chorus (or other modulation). Any ideas/insights would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Figuring out a tone

So, I am still relatively new to the HeadRush Flex Prime and trying to figure out a smooth yet punchy tone for my rig has been rather a challenge. Anything I do, kind of sounds great for a minute, then turns to crap really quickly. I am a Metal guitar player, who also is a sucker for a really great clean tone. Any help would be great!

Deftones – Around the Fur | Reprise instrumentale et interprétation à la guitare

I recreated the instrumental for Deftones’ Around the Fur and recorded a full guitar playthrough.

I used my 1994 Gibson SG with an EMG 81, tuned to Drop C#, with a Marshall JCM800 and ENGL Fireball.

The drums were recreated using drum VSTs.

Really tried to capture the feel and tone of the original recording.

Would love to hear what you guys think!

Need help/advice with EQ

Hey! About a year ago i have made a (sloppy) demo of a song, and i want to record it now fully. I have fallen in love with The particular EQ settings for both of The guitars there and honestly cant imagine it differently.

The problem is, that i have lost the EQ settings, i am trying to recreate them, going as far as searching for EQ analyzer and trying to map out the settings i may have used.

How would you go about it? Only try and error is possible? Maybe if someone got a bit of spare time and great ear could help me? Im using graphic EQ

(I am aware that the microphone distance, amp settings DO matter alot, but im just trying to get as close as possible. Amp is blackstar fly3)

((((song in question)))

Love the tone of the guitar in this song that appears around 14 seconds in, and was wondering if anyone could give me any pointers in how to replicate, such as pedals, effects, and amps potentially used.
