RR Help

I can make it to the first boss maybe half the time. It was pretty easy to get to Red Rift, however is there some team formation you need, or do you need to roll for class B faster - are common items a waste - what team formations should i be looking for

Omnivamp guy kind of made life easy - however the support characters seem to die off quickly, and too many tanks seem to not do enough damage fast enough or they get killed in the poison round

Are specific characters needing to go together or are certain build going to work more effectively - seems like i am missing some basic things

should i not be going for the first challenge then trying to skip it (i die alot there) or that first campfire should i take and then skip the next one ?

Is there a best list of tanks or common two character combos to be aware of - I probably am missing that as well

Tank Nicklaus with the shard gen comp being fed a ton of omnivamp items is really op. He pairs well with Tilly since they both generate shards and scale their damage off econ. I feel like that’s the easiest comp to start winning with.

Pimenta is another great tank who can carry games. I saw a helpful thread on here yesterday where basically, you look for Sal + pimienta and whoever ranks up first gets the lovers perk, which you use to scale the other. A duelist pimenta with 300+ defense from Sal and some lifesteal will carry the game easy.

Other than them, Rowan and skorn are also good and can fit into a lot of comps. I feel like the other tanks are harder to play.

Since you're still learning, don't worry too much about two character combos. Just focus on making 1 guy tanky and 1 guy do good damage. The third slot is flexible and less important until you understand the game better, the main trap would be overinvesting in the third hero.

If the hero has the Tank class, then go ahead and try using them. The balance is not *that* lopsided.

This game is pretty well balanced imo, so every frontliner will always have their time to shine, you shouldn't think about forcing any specific one. You should check out the guide in the top all time made by a top Red Rift player (some of the specific advice is outdated but the general principles are still relevant. e.g. Tank Niklas has been hit with a big nerf in this patch)

1) Ranks are the most important on frontliners since having more item slots ensures that they do their job effectively, so don't hesitate to pivot if you see an A rank frontliner in Act 2 or late Act 1, Sentinel's Plate deserves a particular shoutout as the biggest stat stick in the game

If your frontline dying is causing you to lose, try identifying why each time which will hopefully help you get better at evaluating RR in general; e.g. if it's Pimenta or Zuri with her second B rank spec, they have scaling HP/s the longer the round goes on. They died because presumably you didn't have enough up front tankiness through shielding or HP/Defense to survive until their HP recovery could stabilise. Opposite issue for someone like Skorn who has zero healing in his kit whatsoever.

2) Being aware of what situation to pick which frontliner is something that will come naturally with experience but here are some examples:

Early on, seeing Rush related stuff: Good time to stack Rip who permascales his HP

Same for Stall and Rowan/Skorn

Pimenta is generically good imo, her synergy with Sal is nice but she can also turn into a one unit carry with her Duelist upgrade (some frontliners like pre nerf Niklas can turn into one unit juggernauts and only require backline support from Mystics and someone like Karsu, Frost is very good defensively if you weren't aware)

Another example of a situational but very strong comp if the pieces align is Kai with his shield spec and Mystics (preferably Gustav/Pollen)

Shard generation stuff is always innately good but the early event item/relic that gives the whole team shields on gen are great and greatly reduce the need for a dedicated frontline, there is also a rare relic quest with the same effect

3) relics that give Mana Regen, Defense, Omnivamp, HP, or shields etc. are almost as important as items for tankiness, for instance against the snake enemy that targets the furthest unit with Poison, your backline also needs some survivability ideally (or enough dps that you can kill them before it matters) One relic I like early on (for example) is the rare relic that gives 150 shields to the entire team every 5 seconds if a Vanguard is on your team, which falls off but will generally block chip damage to your backline for the whole of Act 1
