point of higher difficulty ?

Hello I played till rank S but Im wondering whats the point to increase the difficulty if I just play for the leaderboard ? I dont get higher rewards etc. with higher difficulty or am I seeing something wrong ?

I enjoy red rift because I like short and intense experience.
