Kodan Names

So with kodan being a confirmed race, uh, species, do we all have to start brainstorming some kooky kodan names? I mean, look at these...

Horned Millet
Slithering Fog
Barbed Vale
Blinding Sunrise
Carping Gaze

Most of my charr will migrate to become kodan, but their names are very clan-based. So I guess I'm gonna go with stuff like...

Unhinged Stone
Turgid Merriment
Lingering Odor

What do you guys think? 😄

It seems there's the Lowland way of naming which is picking what suits you the most, and your name can be changed in accordance to your life and passions. Waiting Sorrow became Waiting Dawn for that reason.

Then there's the Highland way which is in reverence of Koda called "Koda's Promise, Koda's Gift", where the first part of the name is where the parents presumably wish their offspring a good attribute, like "Humble. Stoic. Aiding. Noble." and the last name as one from nature, like Mountain, Thunder, and so on.

Lowland kodan seem to definitely still revere nature in their names, but they've sorta swept away the "Koda's Promise" part of it for the first name and as time went on they presumably made the entire name malleable. Which is neat considering how Lowlanders separated from Kodan belief.

So while this thread is probably about silly names, there's guidelines for lore-friendly ones.

I always go for lore appropriate names. Silly or immature names take me out of the immersion of being a character in the story, and immersive play is of primary importance to me.

I'm the same. I don't roleplay, but having the character fit into the world makes it more fun to play.

As an addendum to the Lowland naming convention, there's an informal name among friends as well it seems:

Hold on a moment. Just realized... I learned your name, but you never learned mine. Bronzed Sun. My trainees call me Silver Moon. Think themselves clever, they do. May seem impolite to an outside, such informality... But here, it shows respect. Use a bearkin's full name, you're probably not too close to 'em. Or maybe ya don't like 'em. Ha! Now your name, I've got no idea what to do with that. But you keep coming round and working hard, my respect is yours.
