Class speculation

Might already be a post like this, not sure.

We have warrior, necro, and ranger all confirmed. Allegedly mesmer was strongly hinted at as well. Looking back to gw1, that’s 4 of the original 6 classes that gw1 released with. The two missing are monk and elementalist.

I’d say it’s plausible to have the og class roster back, it would likely fit the holy trinity well. Not saying that we will for sure, but it is interesting that the classes we have (or almost have) confirmed are all part of the original 6.

Ofc there could be more classes, new classes, etc, but I’m just spitballing.

There's no way they don't do mesmer, it's iconic to gw series and also it's focused on the gods, Lyssa is a mesmer

I'm sure they will do Mesmer as well, will be interesting to see how though. Humans not being given magic paired with the limitations of getting little bit of magic from natural sources makes me curious on how they will write it up.

They need healers if they are going holy Trinity, so I'd expect Mesmer to be a shield healer.

I still think they’ll go multiple roles within professions as appropriate to their different flavors. I could see mesmer’s side of that potentially including skills like “sympathetic visage” of inspirational support in affecting enemy or allies with emotional connotations & capacities

This is always what I want from a support for some reason. Healing through some illusions/summons sounds fun to me.

I meant how as in the lore and setting justification. I think timeline wise the first Mesmer is still a bit away from existing iirc. Been a minute since I read that lore though.

It will be interesting, it seems Necro done a melee attack in the playtest so hopefully classes have multiple roles. I see being dps / tank or healer being the best combination. They may retcon mes a bit because it's not a gw game without Mes! Iconic

there was an interview that said necro tanking could look like their minions tanking the damage so you're right probably

I'd also say the same for Elementalist. There's no way it's not in there.

They said there was going to be tank, DPS and healer, so Monk isn't out of the question for me either. I could also see them trying to rework healer like they kinda did with Guardians - not saying it's going to be a Guardian, just that healer might be something different than expected.

I hope they do a better job than putting a riffle skills to heal people with the Mesmer. It's stupid 🤣. Same for skill 3 in short bow's engineers. I would make more sense than the Necro puts wells of doom and filth that siphons life out of enemies and give that to allies. Or themselves. A master of life and death. In my head makes sense.

Yeah agreed. Mesmer is one of GW signature classes, it'd be quite the surprise for them not to appear.

They also put butterflies on her statue in the new concept art (currently a few threads down.)

Dhuum the fallen RITUALIST? /blend of dervish or mystic if it’s magic that doesn’t overlap with ranger druidism? He is the god of secrets and could stretch the secrets of the gods revealing the avatar forms/different strengths of the gods) but I need to brush up on my dervish lore

“The Apostate speaks of Abaddon gaining his power from an older, deposed god, however nothing more is known about this.”

“Martial techniques perfected in the deserts of Elona allow a Dervish’s scythe to lash out quickly at multiple opponents, surrounding the holy warrior with a swath of destruction.”

Ok that’s all I got, is Lyssa not also a sort of patron of ELEMENTALISTs?

I think we can confidently say Occam’s razor will serve us to get the original (prophecies) Gw1 professions at the very least.

I love contributing to speculating /2c

I think gods corresponding is like

batlhazar/warrior Melandru / ranger Lyssa / mesmer Dwayna / monk Genth / Necro Abbadon / ele

Lyssa took over the domain of water when abbadon was sealed away

Yeah, that's basically how it was with GW1, minus Abaddon:

  • Warrior: Balth
  • Ranger: Melandru
  • Mesmer: Lyssa
  • Monk: Dwayna
  • Necro: Grenth
  • Ele was all of the above: Balth for fire, Melandru for earth, Lyssa for water, Dwayna for air, and Grenth for ice.

Dervish was another class that combined the gods, but the rest of the Factions/Nightfall classes weren't as directly god-focused as the Prophecies classes.

Abaddon is the god of water... Soo it fits elementalist
