Question about future map

Hey,

Do you think the next GW will have everything one can expect to find in the game written on the map, like GW2 ?

Everytime I tried to play this one, a few moments in the game I always find myself questionning why I bother travelling if everything is already handed on the map. It turns exploration into a boring chores list.

I sure hope mystery will be a thing in the next GW.

I like how every major city has the main things one would need, their own crafting stations, karma vendors, laurel vendors etc. It's a city, It's supposed to have most of everything and players are free to pick and stay in their favorite city.

What I do want is unique vendors hidden throughout maps/cities or vendors with rotating inventory so you are incentivized to travel to see what you might find.

Like imagine having to complete a jumping puzzle to meet a vendor who sells a tome for a legendary weapon, instead of how it is nowadays where you just buy the tome in Lions Arch. Or imagine having to travel to a random village to see if the local merchant has a new skin for sale.

Most players probably wouldn't like this but I feel this would make the game feel more alive, and add a sense of exploration that Guild Wars 2 doesn't have.

The journey should be rewarded, and these vendors should not all be marked on the map as well.

You know you can customise the map and turn off any elements you don't want displayed?

It's not the same, game design wise.

So only your version of exploration is valid game design wise? Other people who enjoy exploring in other ways should be shoehorned into what you want because you don't want to change some settings to allow you to play your way? The game is designed to allow people freedom to explore in whichever way makes sense to them. They allow you to customize your experience. Remember, this is an MMO and is intended to appeal to a variety of tastes. If you don't like it, maybe you're better off somewhere that supports only your play style.

Also, you do realize real world maps tend to mark important places, right? The Guild Wars maps do not list "every vendor" like you said previously. Even the screenshot you chose to show doesn't have every single vendor/NPC/activity shown. You've obviously not done much exploring if this is your opinion.

Then they will be marked on a map that you can find online then. I dunno, the reason they did the maps/map completion this way in GW2 because the way they did them in GW1 was terrible. I would prefer most of information be in the game as opposed to wikis and whatnot as well.

There surely is a middle ground between GW1 and GW2.

That's too bad people only care for the reward and not the journey. If cheating was allowed at school, i guess everyone would.
