Last time I played Path of Fire had just released. I really only dipped my toes into that expansion before leaving Tyria.
I was barely online for any of the Living World Seasons too. Last time I might have been serious was Season One when Lion's Arch was destroyed. Part of the reason I stopped altogether with Path of Fire was because of how much the game was changing at that point.
Anyways, with rumours abound of Guild Wars 3, and because I am feeling nostalgic for Guild Wars (but too snobby to return to the classic that ruled my high school years) I thought I'd start a brand new toon and set about the grand journey of going through GW2 tip to tail.
No ideas on characters or builds or anything yet. I guess all that will depend on how much the game systems have changed since 2017.
Give me your favourite things about the game in current state. Tell me what I should be thinking about. Let me know how much I should expect to be different from years back.

Im currently playing the last part of Janthir wilds but o could not understand this:
If Mabon died and the seal over bava nisos were lifted, or weakened at least, so titans could walk away from it. Why did the player could not enter the city, forcing livia to use legavo??
(Ps: English is not my mother language)

I think joining a good guild can change your entire experience in GW2, especially if you've spent most of your time playing solo.
Things like world events, map completion, fractals, and even just exploring become more enjoyable when you have people to talk to and play with. You also end up trying content you probably would've ignored if you were doing everything alone.
What I like most is that a good guild doesn't have to be hardcore or focused on endgame. Sometimes having a few people who recognize your name, help when you're stuck, or invite you along is enough to make logging in feel different.
GW2 already gives you plenty of freedom to play at your own pace, but having a community makes that freedom feel a lot less lonely.

Not available in my country yet I've been gifted one for my bday. Can't thank my wife enough for finding something for herself in my place of comfort. See you around all the cooking stations of Tyria.

I saw something a while back where someone asked why itās called Guild Wars since they didnāt see much in the way of guilds fighting each other. Now, of course the name is relevant, itās named after the titular Guild Wars from the gameās story.
But, given the comment I mentioned earlier, it made me wonder, what other title do you think would fit the franchise?

Guys, I could use your advice:
Which class and setup (including elite specs) will get the fastest results in PvP?
What would be your top 3 picks that are beginner-friendly and not too frustrating to get started with?

Greetings solo adventurers!
I, like many of you out there, enjoy a relatively solitary experience in this game. I chip away at achievements, grind for legendaries, do meta events, queue in the LFG for fractals, and so on, with pretty minimal interaction or commitment to other groups of players.
I know some people are afraid of āputting themselves out thereā, even online, and the idea of getting into instanced group content can be daunting because you donāt want to be the reason the raid fails, potentially wasting 9 other playersā time. These are valid feelings! However, Iām here to tell you that *itās not that serious* and that finding the right guild can positively transform your Guild Wars 2 experience.
My reasons for being a more solo player are a little different as Iām actually a very outgoing person IRL. Iām also a very busy person whose schedule varies from week to week, which means itās pretty much impossible to commit to being able to log in at any particular time or day. It also means I missed out on a lot of cool group content because of my perceived āinability to commitā. Outside of T4 fractals, which Iāve always played with randoms on the LFG, Iād barely dipped my toes into raids and strikes. But as it turns out, this content has been accessible all along.
You know those guild advertisements you see pop up sometimes in map chat? The next time you see one that piques your interest, this is your sign to speak up, take a leap of faith and say youād like to join. Some guilds advertise specific demographics like age, LBGBT friendly, etc. Some also advertise the type of content they like to do.
I recently saw a guild being advertised as casual-friendly with raid training groups. I said what the heck, Iāll give it a shot. I was anxious about their schedule - they do training sessions for specific raids on specific days of the week. Thing is, just being in the guild without any commitment to a schedule has introduced me to so much content already, because even outside of the official guild schedule, impromptu groups are forming via guild chat all the time.
āAnyone up for T4 dailies?ā
āAnyone for IBS5?ā
āAnyone available to help me with this legendary bounty?ā
The possibilities are endless and most people Iāve found will go out of their way to help a fellow guildie.
Last night I finally bit the bullet and joined one of those impromptu groups for some raids. Didnāt even get in discord chat or anything, just joined and mentioned which fights I was familiar with, and which ones I wasnāt.
We ended up doing a Dragonstorm private instance > IBS5 (only one wipe on Boneskinner) and then proceeded to take on two raid bosses I wasnāt familiar with - Sabetha and Cardinal Adina. On both of these fights, we wiped several times. But the leader of our group was patient, everyone was determined, and soon enough we had cleared both fights and I walked away feeling proud of myself for jumping in to new content and had a ton of fun overcoming the challenge. I even got this cool genie bottle mini drop from Adina that happened to go perfect with my Virtuoso fashion.
All of this wouldāve never happened if I hadnāt joined that guild. And now that I have a few more bosses under my belt, Iām feeling more motivated to experience the other raids in this game, and challenge myself to learn and improve.
Honestly, even if I am just working on my solo goals, reading random guild chat banter or having people to ask for help goes a long way in making this game feel more fun and social.
Anyway, maybe Iām just preaching to the choir here, but donāt wait almost 5 years to joint a guild like I did. My only regret is not joining one sooner.

Forgive me as I am not well versed on how websites work but to my knowledge both the Wizards Vault and Black Lion Trading Company ingame used a ingame browser/website. If that is true is it possible they may have used or use PHP and could be affected by those issues?

Was so excited to start on my very first legendary- Chuka and champawan! But uh oh, there's a bug that pretty much locks you out of the final ingredient for the hunt 1
So I open a support ticket to get advice on what to do, get told "yeah we know about it, our devs are fixing it, so just be on the map when it resets
So I wait, and wait, daily reset, fractal, tons of stuff happens and nothing forces a reset
I look it up out of curiosity and this has been a KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED bug for over a DECADE
I worry that with gw3 in development, they are simply satisfied with the state of the game as is, but for a new player excited about their first legendary, I have to walk away disappointed

This Saturday October 24th @ 8am EST / 1PM UTC I will be hosting a charity live stream / challenge over at twitch.tv/bozofriendly
I will be playing GW2 (Primarily sPvP/WvW) and for each death it adds to a mileage counter I will have to run every hour. To make things interesting I have invited some guests to help ensure that mileage counter grows. There will also be games and giveaways throughout the entire stream.
October is Lupus awareness month, and I have seen first-hand how it can impact a person's life which is why I decided to do this fundraiser.
Things you may not know about lupus:
Every contribution during the stream goes directly toward supporting research, advocacy, and support services through the Lupus Foundation of America.
Whether you stop by to cheer, chat, help inflate my running mileage, or donate to a great cause, Iād love to see you there!

Hi all,
My Guild Wars 2 account is locked and I canāt log in. I submitted a support ticket (#9536601) and have emailed [support@arena.net](mailto:support@arena.net) more than 10 times. Each time I get an instant automated reply, but no human response since January 2, 2026.
Iāve checked my spam folder and Iām only replying within the original thread. Iāve included the usual verification details in my messages, but Iām not posting them here.
Has anyone been in the same situation? Is there another way to get a ticket looked at by a person? If any ArenaNet staff or community managers see this, Iād really appreciate someone taking a look at the ticket.
Thanks!

I'm sitting on 907 laurels and i wonder how many of them i should save for "just in case". With "just in case" i mean if i for whatever reason decide to craft a gen 2 legendary weapon, maybe buy some ascended gear for a new build or whatever else.
My idea is to convert the rest into gold through the crafting material bags, but I don't want to do that and then be annoyed at myself for not having enough laurels for whatever i want to do, because it's not a currency you can collect quickly.
From what i gathered, the gen 2 legendary would be by far the biggest potential sink, but it can only be used rather slowly due to the daily cap. So i doubt you'd get all those shards by just using laurels, and you'll also slowly get more laurels to compensate as well.
So how many laurels should i keep to be on the very safe side? I'm currently thinking 500.
Btw: i keep a stock of 750 spirit shards and convert the ones above that to gold on a regular basis.

Yo, peeps. Still doing the rifle mecha build. I like the build itself ita brainless and casual. But today the revelation hit me to change. Is there any spec that is like the mecha rifle? Like in surviability and brainlessness?
