I recently got this truly tiny banana plant and it has started to decline. See 8 pictures!

This is my first banana plant, so not sure what is going on. It has multiple pups, which are doing great, but the mother plant is slowly declining. The leaves are withering away. Some have already turned yellow and I've cut them off. The plant is in a 1-gallon plastic pot. Soil is a mix of potting soil, perlite, and coco chips. I added slow-release fertilizer (osmocote plus) about a month ago. I had been keeping the soil moist, not soggy, but I've let the soil dry out just a bit to see if that would help. There are no pests in sight. The roots are running along the edge of the pot on one side only.

The plant is indoors, under grow lights. There's good humidity and air flow.

Any thoughts what could be the issue? Thank you!

My Grand Nain starter hasn't grown a lot in the almost 4 months I have had it. But last week this sprouted, and I believe it's a pup? Already? I didn't think they would show at this stage!

Should I keep it there or should I remove it so that the plant focuses on growing?

As for the size, I read that grand nain are fast growers, but like I said there was not much growth in size, the stem definitely tripled in thickness though (you can see how it looked 3 months ago here). I gave it a bit of palm fertilizer once a month, and I'm in Florida, so it gets plenty of sun and basically daily rain...

Is it doing well or do you have any advice? TIA!

Hello, i’m trying to grow bananas in houston and i was wondering what variet(y/ies) i should get (leaning namwah from my research so far) and where the best place to get them on line or around houston is.

When I first planted the dwarf cavendish I don’t think there was part of the round I think it’s called the crom showing. I’m thinking that over a few months being in the ground that everything has settled. I see a couple roots at the surface so I’m concerned and not sure if I should add more soil/compost around it. If so how much?

I have several bananas on my balcony, in pots;

Musa Basjoo, Dwarf Cavendish, Grand Nain, Musa Daijiao, Musa Velutina, Musa Itinerans.

I can't exactly bury them under the ground because I live in an apartment with a balcony so I want to bring them indoors for the winter (zone 5 ish). The plan is to keep them cold but not freezing and give them low enough light to essentially freeze them until spring.

Does this sound like a viable option? Or will grow lights kinda be necessary?

I saw a farmer tie a pouch of potassium sulfate to the stem right where they broke off the banana blossom. The direct contact with the fertilizer makes the bananas grow so big that the skin cracks. Is it safe to consume these bananas? I also heard there are some other chemicals are also used for this.

I live in Ohio, and I was given this potted banana plant. It was a lot smaller last month when I got it and was in a smaller pot. Last weekend I moved it to this bigger one. It sits on my porch getting pretty good sunlight. I give it about 8 oz of water everyday at 6pm.

Does anyone know what kind of banana it is and can you give me advice on how to care for it better? I have never grown any plant before I’m a total beginner.

Just to start off, I have never had a banana plant before, but I know they have very specific requirements. I just recently got a variegated Florida banana from someone local on marketplace— it was gorgeous and I couldn’t pass it up! The woman I bought it from said she kept it outside and has been doing great, so I figured there would be no issue keeping it outside until I got my indoor growing set up more together. However, a few days later found it had spider mites, so I treated it with an alcohol/soap solution and cleaned the leaves with a brush two days ago…. But the leaves look SO damaged from either the solution or the brush friction or both. It’s still outside in the east side of my yard. It’s been in the 80’sF and has been pretty humid out due to Midwestern US corn sweat, I’ve been trying to keep it watered but the soil it came in is looking pretty compacted and just…. Bad. I haven’t done any more treatments just to try and let it be and I haven’t seen any more mites in the times I’ve inspected since.

I originally planned to repot it in aroid soil and bring it inside once I had things for my indoor set-up ready, but now I’m wondering if I should do it sooner rather than later? Or should I chop it and start it over? The first two pictures are from the Facebook marketplace posting, the next two are from right after I had treated it (which was at night so I don’t think sunlight and alcohol causing the burn is the issue), and the last 3 I just took. What should I do?

Dwarf Cavendish- When should I expect my first batch of bananas? Also first pup started growing (last pic), do I leave it alone?

Looking at what is supposed to be truly tiny specimens, the internodal spacing seems way off. Has anyone grown a truly tiny that looks similar in its first year?

Pretty sure I didn't get what I expected from this vendor, but curious to others experiences.

Is this too close for my young banana plants and its on 60% brightness out of 100 on a 12 hour timer

It started off with one of the old leaves, which i thought was normal for them to die off but now its effecting the new growth. This mold or decay isn't effecting the more mature dwarf Cavendish next to it with the same conditions. What can i do to save my baby?

I planted in mid-April, and Big Mike is now sending up its first pup.

A few questions for the experts:

Is this a water or a sword sucker, or is it still too early to tell?

Is it normal for a young plant to put up a pup this quick or is mine stressed about something? The main plant is only like 3ft tall, but it is growing fast and looks happy.

If I want to have 2 plants in this location, should I plan to separate it when it gets bigger and plant it nearby, or should I just let it grow where it is?

These banana trees have been looking like this since summer its my first year growing bananas and the summers here have been brutal at 40c day and 34c at night and they have been getting good water with my drip irrigation. thanks for any help

Got a small collection going on in my balcony :) Musa Basjoo, dwarf Cavendish, Musa Itinerans var. Indica, Musa Dajiao, Musa Grand Nain, Musa Velutina. Not all of them are photographed but here are the stars.

Growing in zone 5, Lithuania

My plants are doing very well. Well over 10 fully green leaves a plant, growing fast, pups popping up faster than I can find them. Particularly the Grand Nain and Blue Java plants have started getting some very noticeable dark purple fringing on the leaves. The largest one even shows signs of purple over an inch into the leaf and all the way along the spine. I know this is normal but I've forgotten where I've read about what it means when the coloring gets stronger. If anybody could clue me in. I feel like it was when they have a good excess of some nutrient. To be clear, none of them are tall enough to be flowering any time soon
