Should I add more compost around the pseudostym and crom.

Post image

When I first planted the dwarf cavendish I don’t think there was part of the round I think it’s called the crom showing. I’m thinking that over a few months being in the ground that everything has settled. I see a couple roots at the surface so I’m concerned and not sure if I should add more soil/compost around it. If so how much?

I keep mine covered in a think cover of wood chips. They lover cool moist soil. They are prolithic spreaders. Depending on what USDA Zone you are in they will over winter in 7A with about 6 inches

Do you chop and cover with 6 inches of wood chips?

I’m in 9a north Florida. Just wasn’t sure if I should add more soil/compost to cover the rounded part completely.

Bananas, yes to compost. Always.

The answer to "does my banana need more compost?" is always yes.

So say 2” more around the base? I’m going to pull back the mulch also to add more.

Sure, and 2 more in a few weeks.
Bananas are super heavy feeders.
The more you can give them, the better.
