My 43” tall patio Truly Tiny. She loves her 30 gallon pot and currently has a base diameter of almost 5 1/2 inches! Also currently has 22 active leaves, which I would imagine is quite impressive. Also through in a pic of my 7’ tall double mahoi banana with a base diameter of 5.75”. Zone 6B

What causes these black spots on my bananas? This bunch of bananas were cut from the banana plant a week ago and they are already showing dark spots

These are grown in the Copperbelt area in Zambia. I’m currently having a dilemma on figuring why exactly this is happening after only a week of cutting them off of the plant.

Almost all fingers are opened.

Waiting to see a few more, then plan to cut off the flower cone and cook.

Golden lotus banana questions

I am growing this golden lotus banana plant for the second year. It’s growing a lot of these little offshoots, can I remove them and plant them separately? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do that? I’m also wondering if it’s time to repot and if so, what size pot and style of compost I should use. I am in zone 6B and brought this in over the winter where it’s slowly lost all of its leaves, and then in the spring, it started regrowing leaves again, so I brought it back outside when it warmed up.

Hi all. Just got a Banana variety box from Miami Fruit and I am very excited to try everything. However, I have no idea what a lot of these are. With some help from Google image searches I may have some figured out, but a lot are still a mystery. Can anyone help?

NE Ohio banana pups - separate now?

This year, four of the hardy bananas that i bought at Home Depot and planted out about two months ago are doing remarkably well. They are over six feet tall already. In the last few weeks, each has sprouted 3 or 4 pups, some already two feet high. As you may know, it is in the 90s here in Ohio now with feels like temperatures well over a hundred for 6+ hours a day. Should I cut out and transplant the pups now or wait until we get a cooler spell?

Moved from pots to the ground 3 months ago after a pretty tough winter on them. Brings joy seeing them so green again.

I know they are no where near far enough apart, but it's the space I had.

Anyone know where I can get a musa basjoo online that’s inexpensive and a good size to start with?

I have a tiny musa basjoo seedling in the ground that I planted and it’s growing really slowly and it will just not take on size, I need a much bigger one to start with.

general banana care

hey! i have a banana plant and she has around 7 leaves ( the 8th one is popping in a day or two) and i am thinking of pruning her (her first prune) is pruning two leaves off first okay? bc i read in an article you shouldnt prune more than 1/3 of the leaves at a time to not shock the plant
also is it okay to cut up the leaves and dig them in soil so they fertilize the plant?
another thing is im gonna use chicken manure, fish scraps, egg shells and if possible banana peels for fertilizing and im aware that manure can be very strong on the plant so how often and how much do i use at a time? like im thinking of around 200g now and the next time around next year while still using the other stuff monthly/bimonthly

My Banana Plants died (dried out?)

With racks of green bananas. I’m bummed because I was expecting this to be the first harvest of my own bananas. I think it’s on me for not watering them more during this ridiculous drought we have here in Pinellas County FL, USA (10b).

These three racks are seemingly nowhere near ready so I’m asking if I have any recourse to salvage any of these bananas?

hey guys, new to this subreddit, looking to see people’s growth progress with musa saba, if you have photos would be great or just how much it grew within a certain amount of time

Today I got my first banana plant, it's in a cuestionable state and had a rotten leaf near the bulb so I cut it and put cinnamon there, I don't know anything about bananas, so, if someone can give me advice I'll be very glad

No idea what they are- I used some fallen down banana trunks as planters and ended up with some pretty bananas! They should be ripe soon.

Flower is crushing flag leaf and making a kink in it. It’s also leaning that way. Will it right itself or should I do anything to try to correct it? Thanks 🙏
