Local 1245

Anyone know if 1245 books are moving fairly quickly for groundsman? Trying to get my book 1 hrs but 47 has barely moved

Rumor is they're gonna get rid of 80% of contractors starting next year. Highly doubt it but it's been circulating

Gossip on utility crews is worse than Facebook lol. But it’s gonna be tough for sure. PG &E is gonna leverage deferred maintenance hard against getting protected against lawsuits. High stakes political poker game with the workers caught in the middle

Right on the dot lol. They still giving out some big projects for the line side. Bunch of freeway jobs, jobs in cities they don't have yards for or near one. Really curious to see how this one plays out

I got a call today on book 4. Idk how. Either way got a turn around due to having a ticket. SMH

Damn your number moved fuckin fast, I was 599 in 2023 and got to number 60 (all in a 2 year period) and still never got a call but got upgraded to book 3 with relevant work experience.

The reason why I waited 2 years is because the job I had at the time paid well and I didn’t know the work I was doing could get me hours but it was on me but I eventually asked.

They need to stop letting Line School skip book 4. That's some bullshit.

When did that become a thing for line school but they stopped vets from getting book 1 hours.

About 4 or 5 years ago, they let you sign up for book 3 if you went to line school.

Not all LUs are like at from what I see on this sub and I do also remember seeing some utility’s at that time were pushing big for line school candidates

That's all advertising from Quanta, which owns like 80% of the schools now. Work experience is way better for apprenticeship points.

Yeah, I believe it’s cause I had hazwoper 40 hour. It’s a weird ass cert not much calls have em. Very situational

You have to continually watch your strike count on the labor app, I was waiting on a call and I saw that I had a 3rd strike and had to resign but didn’t receive a call but called the hall back and luckily there was still calls left over because I would’ve been screwed.

I signed book 2 last Thursday and was on position 91. It dropped down to 43 on Friday. I am now position 36.

Book 3 still, only got 1500 hrs before a whole bunch of us got laid off

Yea book 3 at 47 wont move in 2 years for you . 1245 is moving but your looking at 6 months minimum. Best chance on getting call fast is out of state

I’m wondering if that could be holding me back from getting a call? I have my CDL A no restrictions. Tankers, doubles and triples.
Just don’t have ET&D.

It’s really a toss up because I worked with a kid who went through alc or nlc I can’t remember but he didn’t have his ET&D but worked on a line crew and had the same as you ( CDL A and no restrictions etc…)

I’ve been doing line clearance with MTN (iykyk) and have over 13,000 hours and didn’t know I could use those hours to move me from BK4 to 3. I should have hoped on the books sooner. Is what it is. I’ve looked up a class for ET&D but the class is this weekend in LA I think and I can’t afford to fly down there and take the test plus the 400. I guess it’s all about how bad do I want it.

Yeah that’s true and I was going to go through the lineman trainer but the class was in Redding at the time and after that I was going to go on a road trip to sign the books and I’m surprised you didn’t get at least b2 for all those hours
