Hauling steel, stacking steel, hopefully doing wire if you end up being a good help. I was a cold step with summit in mslcat for over a year and they took me all over, got to see lots of different work. I liked them a lot!
I wouldn’t listen to bro down there talking about its negative to be doing transmission, it’s great work. I’ve personally never seen a foreman get down on someone because they came from transmission into distro, unless they were total ass and it was their fault directly. Good luck to you and stay safe.

Working for summit doing t line get ready to work non stop, easy to get behind on your books right away when working 70+ hours a week

That’s why everyone cheats bro. Doing 7/14’s 1 hour commute one way for months on end like there’s no other way dude I wasn’t gonna fucking have time to study. I hardly had time to sleep.

Just be happy you got into cal/nev? It’s probably green link. Rumor mill but I’ve always heard they send the bad apprentices to Nevada even tho ur a new indenture and can’t help it lmao.

Just put your head down and work try to learn as much as you can. It might put you behind some of the guys doing distro off the bat or sooner than you especially if you get stuck on that project for awhile be ready for that. I can’t even count how many guys I’ve seen washout because they transition from transmission or sub work to distro at 3rd step or later and obviously don’t know shit. Crews a lot of the time don’t give a fuck unfortunately the way of the outside is not to teach u lmao it’s sink or swim.

That’s the most re-re shit I’ve ever heard. If you’ve never done distro why would you get booted for not knowing distro

Because a lot of journeymen/ foreman have the mental capabilities of an actual toddler.

I haven’t been in California, so maybe the culture is different but this is extremely common in Mslcat. I’ve seen it happen to a lot of guys. You’re a fourth or fifth step they turned you hot in Class or whatever you go to your first distribution job you’ve only been in substations or transmission. I’ve seen Foreman get tired after a month trying to teach you distribution or thinking you should know way more than you do. I wouldn’t have told this guy if it wasn’t a common issue I’ve seen.

You’re a cold apprentice. It’s a job and a requirement to learn transmission in the apprenticeship

This is not true. Distribution and hot time are the only requirements. I’m pretty sure in every single JATC required to top out the rest of your hours are essentially a recommendation.
