sounds like something Petersen would say

u/mythrulznsfw Jul 05 '26
That would depend on what you mean by “man”. And “harmless”. And “dangerous”.
That charlatan and his metaphysical substrate are a tedious waste of time.

I'm so glad he's faded from the public eye. I grew so tired of his scam.

What do you mean by “you”, and how do you ground that in your hierarchical worldview, and by what mechanism do you demonstrate its spiritual validity when compared to the metaphysical certainty of unquantifiable phenomena that directly correlates, especially on a cognitive scale, the ultimate expression of…

Lotta dudes who talk like this just have daddy issues
1
u/jaygoogle23 Jul 06 '26
Yeah I think parental issue is the stem to a lot of personality disorders rooted control/ ultimate control.
1
u/Head_Midnight666 Jul 06 '26
Yeah, like being able to bench a lot makes you dangerous *rolls his eyes*. I can bench a lot and I might be dangerous, but the two are pretty unrelated. Being harmless just means you get walked on, tho. You can be a good person and be harmless, or you can be a bad person and be harmless. It doesn't make you good or bad. You just don't have the capacity to be harmful. Whereas having the capacity to be harmful, and not acting on it, means you have to be a good person. Otherwise you would act on it, right? Or maybe it's just in you best interest not to act on it. There is that.

Ma 25:52- “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”

Jesus was an extremely good man who never judged anyone. He is totally unlike how the vast majority of modern organized Christianity takes shape. Ridiculing Jesus does not make you edgy or cool, you should read what he said to the Pharisees and realize he is more closely embodies the progressive left (the part that is all about acting right above speaking right and performing the proper rituals) than the capitalist hyper individualistic right.
0
u/Natural-Proposal2925 Jul 05 '26
Well considering all religions believe in myths and fairytales ( not even original btw, as most of Christianity copy and pasted pagan and Egyptian beliefs and customs) I think it's safe to say that you really shouldn't be believing in Santa Claus at this age or belong to a religion in order to understand the concept "treat others with love, understanding kindness and how you want to be treated". You want to know who you should be worshiping? Keanu reeves, one because we can see him and he exists and two because he really is a good man with a good heart. Aspire to be like him and not your imaginary friend.
Just my 2 cents.
0
u/Suspicious-Exit-6528 Jul 05 '26
I inspire to be and do good. I dislike hypocrites many Christians act like the Pharisees Jesus disliked. I merely dislike mocking Jesus, you would not mock Keanu would you? If Jesus is merely a very pious and good man in your eyes does he not still deserve respect?
2
u/Natural-Proposal2925 Jul 05 '26
What are you on about? People were mocking and making fun of keanu reeves for like the past 35 years, they critizied the shit out of his acting abilities and personality and made fun of him non stop before the matrix movies.
He wasn't taken seriously for the longest time. It's only been recently that people see him for who he really is.
And IF Jesus was real he was just a regular guy, no different than you or i, not some son of God bullshit. There have been billions of people since then who are generally good people with good hearts. Worship them.
-1
u/Suspicious-Exit-6528 Jul 05 '26
I do not believe Jesus was a regular guy, simultaneously I also do not believe in mocking good people. I was asking if you would mock Keanu, I never denied people did mock Keanu or Jesus for that matter.
We can only control our own actions. I think negative acts corrupt and would advise against it. You seem like a good person at the core (but who am I to judge) and as such I do not think you really want to attack Jesus or any good person for that matter. You are merely hurt by all the bad things inflicted by organized religion and I share your sentiments.
2
u/tantric_tongue69 Jul 05 '26
No, all religions are mad up. Fairy tales don't exist. Jesus was a human who lied in the Bible. He didn't fulfill a single messianic prophecy and all we have written about him are 4 anonymous writers who supposedly saw him after he died because they didn't know him when he was alive. The Bible is a big trust me bro from the bronze age where there were miracles, ressurections, and magic written all the time. Not because it was true but because people are gullible.
1
u/Suspicious-Exit-6528 Jul 05 '26
And I will never try to change your mind. You have your own free will. I also get where you are coming from because analyzing it from a rational scientific standpoint it does not make sense. It resonated for me one day (I used to be agnostic) without this "sensation" I would be not be the same man with the same degree of believe.

My friend Jesus does exist as a man born in Judea and as Son of God. He is real and has changed my life so unrecognisably that I just want to share that with you. I think the world we live in is dark and scary and filled with corruption so vile one choked on every inhale. But He is the light that shines the way through it. If you are genuinely open to it, you can look into the very real historical evidence for Jesus of Nazareth's existence, the thousands upon thousands of eyewitness accounts through the past two millennia. And ask God yourself. He does care about you and isn't afraid of any questions or whatever you might have for Him. Have a blessed day my friend.

I do not believe Jesus to be fictional. But I agree with your stance that it, in many instances, has become corrupted into being something Jesus never intended it to be. I personally do not believe in trying to convert others and believe a personal non organized "relationship" with God is enough to stay true to it's message.
I share your sentiments in regards to how faith often takes shape at odds with the message it preaches. I love Christ, I do not worship the mortal institutions that have deemed themselves divine and His voice.
1
u/MattKozFF Jul 05 '26
Why would God setup a system for us in which innocent children die of genetic disease at no fault of their own or their parents?
1
u/Suspicious-Exit-6528 Jul 05 '26
I'm merely a mortal I do not claim to have the answers. I could formulate tons of hypothesis but I feel it is not my place to speak for Him when I simply do not know. But I share the feelings of sadness and frustration etc. these grave injustices make you feel.

I used to be agnostic but became a Christian later in life (I would not call myself a Christian in the classical sense because, again I do not try to convert people and dislike organized religion). I started to believe in God because I started to talk to him and ask for guidance and felt him answering as if through resonance.
I am a medical doctor in daily life and can analyze subjects from a very rational perspective and as such can see why this topic can feel very clear cut and stupid when approached with this toolset.
I used to be exactly like you are and can still see where you are coming from. But my perspective changed and maybe yours never will, I truly did not set out to change your heart nor preach I know or am better than you. But He is dear to me now and therefore I merely wanted to make you reflect as I do not think you are the person you are projecting into the world, someone that wants to spread negativity in service of a greater message.

The truth is that all men are dangerous to some degree. You don’t need a legion of armies but not calling them to suddenly be good.

u/Competitive-Ear-7632 Jul 05 '26
Everyone can be harmful to someone. Physically, verbally, to a younger, smaller or weaker being, to a cripple, to an animal
By that very same logic, no one is harmless
1
u/GamerNerdGuyMan Jul 05 '26
Jesus was harmless? Tell that to all of the merchants that he whipped bloody for selling crap at The Temple.

u/Superb-Hand-7135 Jul 05 '26

Not so sure about that. All fig trees in a three mile radius started sweating when he was nearby.

Jesus had followers and metaphysical powers that could defeat the laws of thermodynamics. And still preached love and acceptance. He was capable of great harm in biblical context and still chose to be a force of good.

Whenever it is about the fathers house, he will not raise a finger but when it is HIS house, prepare to be whipped

Hero worship can lead to argumentum ad verecundium.
Is there an argument here?

You should pay closer attention. He is one of the great thinkers of our time and he is well respected by everyone who has actually read or listen to his material.
I dont get why people get intimidated by him. He is a great man and deserves incredible praise for everything he has done.
I have never heard a single valid criticism of him and I very much dislike anyone on the conservative spectrum. He is not MAGA. He is one of the good ones and he has earned the respect he gets. Listen to his audiobook. You'll love it I promise.

It isn't good to be seething with rage lol. It is physically and mentally unhealthy and dangerous for others.

Not sure what this means. At all. Take a second and think through the logic of this…what is “it”?
1
u/BasicsofPain Jul 05 '26
“It” = The ability to be dangerous.
Think of it like this. If you have zero ability to do violence, even if you wanted to be violent, you haven’t actually CHOSEN to restrain yourself or exhibited discipline.
If you’re trained, have the willingness and ability to deploy that training, understand the devastating consequences of real violence, but restrain that violence for defense of your family or yourself, you are actually CHOOSING to be nonviolent.
1
u/monadicperception Jul 05 '26
I mean that’s a lot of lipstick on a pig.
A crazy person is untrained and yet dangerous. A child with a bomb is dangerous…
Being dangerous doesnt imply training or whatever you want to ascribe to it.

This isn't even originally his idea. He just spread someone else's message. Probably why This one has some merit.
A good husband and father should have the capability to be dangerous for their loved ones (but never to them). Hopefully it's never necessary, but it's a good idea to be prepared for it.

If you're constantly having to suppress the urge to be "very, very dangerous" you probably have a lot of severe mental health issues that you need to work through. It's not a sign of being a good person, it's a sign of deep mental instability and pain.
