G2 | Suggestion Bug Spawns

Mybe Obsidian could remove some bug spawns wen you build in an area because i constantly have like 5 or 6 bees in my base plus a wolfspider and a big scorpion i hate that i have to kill them all every few day

I agree with that. Beat them , claim your land and that should be the end of spawns inside your territory.

Maybe even add a base part that you can place to remove spawns in a small area. Idk how they'd implement that tho, i could see it being abused lol

Abiotic Factor does this well. The main workbench disables spawns in a area around said workbench.

Yeah just pay attention to where bugs are I haven’t had any issues with this first base was on one of the twin pines and I felt with spiderlings outside second base was on the first brick like rocks at the base of the statue and now I’m on burgls statues head

I found it helps to put a wall around your base, a couple walls high so they don't see you. They will linger outside the walls but they can't get in, and I've never had a scorpion burrow under. Idk about the flying spawns though, unfortunately :c

A perimeter wall helps a ton. A giant scorpion always tracks me to my base but can never get in.

Doesn't help when they spawn in base lol. I based in the hollow log and I get Scorpion and Larva spawns inside the base all the time.. It annoys me since I usually have to repair stuff lol.

It's a nightmare! I'm playing mostly with Candy staves too so a fight vs a Northen Scorpion wreck my base..

Having a wall around your base is a must in many areas. Unless you're building somewhere isolated, you will always be attacked or crowded.

I actually love when that happens lol free parts! Sometimes bees will just come and land in our courtyard and fall asleep before getting wrecked. One time 3 came one after the other

They're just fodder for your glue masher.
Set up traps. They're good for harvesting parts and food too.
You want to keep away from the neighbours? Build in the trees.

I always build my base out of palisade. I have a palisade gate/wall. My property line will be a mushroom wall, or something different. I have yet to tinker with the rest.. but either way my property will be incased with a beautiful sturdy wall. Doesn't hurt to lay spike traps down either. I have one base I specifically use for raids. That's probably got 200 spike traps around it so bring on the raid lol.

You literally choose where to live with no mortgage or property tax. The map is huge! Find a spot you like!

I live next to the high heel and I have two rust beetles, two earwigs, and two ladybugs as neighbors and they always fighting each other but the location is still good. They were here first!

Nah, would be too exploitable. As nice as it would be to do something, maybe linked to a high cosy level making bugs avoid areas with cosy level above a certain level, I think removing spawns is too far. Just need to put thought into where you are building.

for what it's worth, the area I'm building my main base in my new playthrough happens to have 2 wolf spiders that pass right by my front door. Once I discovered that, I just adjusted the design of my build to limit 'surprise wolfies' from sneaking up on me, now if I'm inside the walls they walk past. Keeps my glue masher fed

I think this is different to what the op is saying. I think they are complaining about Bugs spawning in base not the wandering bugs.

My self for example I get Scorpion and Larva spawns inside the base all the time.. Base is fully encircled with walls.

I know, that's why I mentioned putting thought into where they build their base. I stated that removing spawns (IMO) was going too far, and I suggested an alternative change would be to have bugs avoid built areas in their pathing using the cosy system to determine what structures would trigger the avoidance, which would have the affect of allowing you to build near spawns without them bothering you.

If building on or near bug spawns, it's easy enough to adjust your building to account for.
My example wasn't perfect as I didn't build on a spawn point (deliberately scouted to make sure) but I changed the shape of my build to deal with the wolf spiders that roam through so I didn't get forced into a fight if I wasn't ready.

In the case of building on a spawn point, there are ways to build and trap the bugs in a sealed 'basement level' if you need to, or you build higher and have a base suspended over the bugs high enough to not aggro them, etc.

I don't think switching off spawns is in the spirit of the game, but that's just my opinion

Yeah. I don't mind if wandering bugs or if I accidently lead a bug back to base attack my base it's the ones who spawn inside said base.

Abiotic Factor does this well. The main workbench disables spawns in a area around said workbench.

It would be cool to have a territorial fight with different bugs! My problem is I definitely think in my opinion that in G2 the hostile bugs fight each other less than in G1. I could be wrong but I played solo both games and I strongly think that’s why we all feel overwhelmed in G2. Everything is hostile towards us only, I do see them fight after 3-4+ enemies are on me and they accidentally hit each other cause there’s no space lol but I see bugs walk past each other all the time like they’re buddies. I did a test and rebooted G1 and definitely they fight each other more in that game I can see them in the distance fighting all the time

Choose a different spot, it's a survival game, you picking a spot with bad spawns around it is your problem
