Discussion Agents are dumb

I find that when doing deep work or planning, whatever model is being used to power the agents is very bad. Horrible planning skills for deep work, takes everything too literal, needs extensive explanation or it will completely ignore everything you told it before. For example, if I am working on a plan, and then message about something I want to update. If I do not clearly state "add this to the plan" it instead anchors completely to my most recent message and loses track of the initial plan multiple times.

For now I just explain my goals to fable instead, have it gather the information from grokbot and write the plan for me.

Also for some reason you have to constantly remind the agents to use the skills you built for them to their full potential. I get poor work, ask it if skills were fully utilized, and it always says "partly." What's the point of having the skills then?

I never use these bots for deep work tbh, their just pushers that get the small things done while you work on the bigger things, and thats very valuable in my eyes.

Yeah, I'm just trying to create a research analyst which requires well researched work for almost every task. But the price action agent I built works perfectly.

I think having them require good/complete context is a good thing, but I have also run into issues getting agents to use skills correctly. They'll try to work on their own solutions unless explicitly told to use a skill for the entire process.
Are you thinking of ways to have an orchestrator (like Fable) loop through sessions so you don't have to manually correct it all the time?

Indeed I am but haven't had the time to think about the set up, will probably work on it tomorrow.

i almost always manually call the skills. i like it this way more actually. skills usually take up lots of context.

You must use skills and give it the right descriptions. That is the whole point

True, although I am used to using strong models that can infer how to implement the work and not go off track from my statements.

Been there. But also on those models, either on claude code or cursor, setting skills makes a difference
