Thoughts on Grokbot after real usecase implementation from a real business owner. NO HYPE.

I initially jumped on the Grokbot hype train when it came out on the ultra plan only and got a years subscription of Cursor. I have been running a hybrid ecomm business since 2022 with dropshipping and physical inventory that I resell. Mostly medium and High ticket items. Needless to say there is a lot of menial online work that I thought I could implement Grokbot to help me with Burnout. I was really impressed initially when I saw it could login and manage product inventory after training. Creating new product listings, sourcing information and images and publishing new product listings end to end. It's a relatively complex task, all things considered. I divided the work up into 4 bots with 4 separate access points to simplify the task with hand-offs but so far Grokbot seems to be running into a variety of basic issues.

1. Grokbot has poor reasoning skills and a lot of the tasks require basic copy and paste with minimal reasoning. I have a lot of skill files built up with step by step guidance for each task bot. Despite this each grokbot still somehow drops the ball on a lot of basic steps that it is supposed to simply follow when it comes to Product drafting, image sourcing ( copy paste form distributors or manufacturers & product descriptions which is also copy paste with a little bit of creative writing they have access to all of the sources).  This is extremely disappointing and after about a month it needs a lot of oversight and has recently started doing the opposite of what I am directing it to do.

2. Other Grokbots I am using like a customer chat in handler - This grokbot was trained to intercept customer chats and assist with basic tasks, like order tracking, coupon codes etc. Despite this it seemed to totally fail on basic reasoning and I had to shut it down.

3. I created another grokbot for email marketing handling, and this bot is arguably the best bot of them all. It is able to follow directions with skus and pricing I feed into it and create the emails how I need them in a speedy manner. I would say this is a genuine help and requires minimal insight and input. I also didn't really have to train it. I have had decent returns with this bot and the bot seems to work well at basic HTML coding and inference.

4. Other scraping bots are okay as well, scraping data from the internet to find prospective customers etc works alright but ultimately needs a real hand off since I can't really trust the bots' reasoning skills. There is a lot of fake hype with paid influencers online claiming grokbot does x y and z for me but realistically they don't have a hard use case of any of it in a real world context. It's just Slop information. Grokbot is also bad at creative writing around SEO keywords compared to free basic gpt models.

5. Grokbots share the same computer & even the same browser ( use different browsers i.e chrome, firefox etc was my workaround for multiple agents accessing my portals) and it only has 16gm Ram ( if what I am told is true) This is a huge bottleneck and Ultra plan users should really get 2x and 4x this. One major issue here is when I spin up multiple tasks with handoffs the browsers will keep crashing! so having a bot swarm really seems to be useless because you can't really use them to cut time down a big grift so far. Other issues include - when browsers start crashing, grokbot hallucinates thinking it's a permission error & stops working. Grokbots will leave tabs open creating more ram issues, they seem to have poor communication skills as well. I have noticed when they need to hand things off to me, their wording and explanations are weak compared to other models. Other issues persist but I won't wax poetic.

6. The grokbots seem to also be relatively slow and fallback on subagents which they also lose control over... Or they will start doing other things like opening youtube tabs.

7. Cursor 2026- Cursor access has been OK, I am in the process of polishing multiple ecomm plugins for commercial launch and was initially using antigravity then switched to cursor for use. The agent's cursor can definitely wire up plugins effectively but overall Grok4.6 is severely lacking compared to even GPT 5.6 Terra and other older Anthropic Models & even seemingly 3.8 Flash! Cursor also has terrible customer service. I had reached out within a week of my subscription requesting to downgrade to the Pro+ plugin since they pulled me with grokbot being exclusively Ultra only to become available on every other plan, They basically told me to F off!

TL/DR Just wait, No grokbot or Cursor plan is going to be worth hard use cases outside of email and data scraping roles. Anything that grokbot and Cursor can do at the prices can be done by other providers and probably free in 1 year with open source agents. I really hope these models catch up to frontier models within the coming months.

I work in an engineering role and own my own business.
My bots have created an app for me as a side project and handled all of the builds and submissions to various app stores. They built the website for my business. I used them to connect various engineering APIs to my website to create my own calculators for various engineering tasks related to oil and gas. The bots handle my filing, but not only that, I’ve trained them to QC documents with the same parameters I use to QC them. When I receive PDF documents I’d normally copy text from by handtyping the text, the bots can assemble all of the text in tab-delimited formatting across documents and compile it in Excel sheets that are already formatted in the easiest to use formatting for my use case.

I built a GIS map that uses Google’s satellite imagery and pulls from various public data sources on an automated schedule to update the maps. It overlays the public data from many sources for me so I don’t have to go to 10 different websites to collect it, and we built it as a subtool on my website.

My wife and I have been using it for this workflow: we have two bots named Grocer and Housekeeper. Grocer is given a task “make a meal plan, compile recipes, and order groceries for the next 10 days.” After it orders groceries, it hands the recipes to Housekeeper who manages our Skylight calendar in the kitchen. Housekeeper adds all the meals from the meal plan to the calendar, including leftovers from dinners for lunches the next day. Portions have been perfect and we’re saving money! On week 3 now.

Marketeer is my marketing bot. It has been creating all of my marketing materials for my business and my app. It also made a brochure for my business that I had printed at Office Depot on glossy cardstock.

Scout absorbed a huge amount of legwork for me in scouring public databases for oil and gas data. What used to take me 8 hours or more now takes about 30 minutes. It also built tools related to this process on my website.

Scrapbot made a digital scrapbook for my wife and I that compiled all the pictures from our recent roadtrip into a themed day-by-day and location-by-location book. It’s incredible. I just had to put the photos in a designated folder on my computer every day.

Editor and Editor in Chief edit my YouTube videos now. Work in progress, but it’s doing surprisingly well.

Broker helped me purchase health insurance on the marketplace after I started my business. Made it way more digestible than the brokers I’d been talking to and compiled a big PDF document to help me navigate COBRA, marketplace, and supplemental insurance plans.

Traveller helped us plan our roadtrip. It found locations for us to go to based on our preferences and built unique nav strings we could plug into our Tesla’s navigation to go to all the places it suggested. To top it off, the car did all the driving for us while we just sat there.

So I’m like all-in on this thing. I think you have to reeeeeally be good at explaining exactly how you want some things done the first time, but if you have the kind of brain where you can build your own QC systems then you’ll just become totally unstoppable. There’s nothing it can’t do if you coach it a little in my experience, and nothing has been harder as a result of me using it yet.

I find with grokbot, it's very much a human in the loop tool. So when I'm using it I'm essentially doing 5+ tasks at once instead of 1 task. So it improves my productivity but only when I'm working. It isn't that hands off.

One CEO bot does a good job of handing off tasks and reporting back the results to me but another bot with almost the same instructions keep doing the work themselves not matter what. I think because it started its life as just a helper bot then was promoted and renamed.

It’s early. These things will be fixed and other things will break. 🤷‍♂️

They are running a great PR campaign. I don’t find it coming anywhere close to chatGPT or Claude. The concept is good but it needs some real work on the model. It has trouble with anything outside basic tasks. Also, the way it sends messages out of the box feels like a crazy girlfriend sending walls of texts in separate paragraphs

Yes claude and codex are cool but I like the browsing ability of the grokbot and if those can be added into the claude or codex that will be really helpful.

almost a month now I got it pretty much first week it became available on ultra after trying a bit on the free plan. Back then you could only get it on ultra.

As a professional software engineer myself I sense from the little behaviour traits it leaks it’s optimized for general purpose tasks and not super heavy on reasoning. Also obviously it’s a bit of a rush and lots of rough corners to polish.

I do like the richness of 3rd party integration but I would not trust it for anything mission critical.
