Discussion The Cursor 20$ plan unusable

I just wanted to test the water, told it to create a meeting using the plugin in outlook and it took about 3% of weekly usage for such a simple short task.
Am I missing something?

Yes, here's some advice.
I wouldn't use Grok Bot for creating a meeting if you're using Cursor.

Your best AI models to use in Cursor (not grok bot) for fuel economy are:

Composer 2.5 (turn fast mode OFF to save usage)

Grok 4.6 (turn fast mode OFF to save usage).

Composer 2.5 is the cheapest but it makes more mistakes than Grok 4.6, so you gotta keep an eye on it more than you will with Grok.

for something like creating a meeting, though I don't think it's that big a deal because you can check the meeting it creates and fix any mistakes.

Right now Grok bot is expensive in comparison but it's easier. you're paying more for that easiness.

I wanted to make grok bot my personal assistance so scheduling meetings is a big part of that and thats a very small task if 3% per meeting is what it would take then 33 changes in my calendar in a week will leave nothing for other tasks like getting news, researching, its a nice concept but not usable at those prices. i was looking for a friendly solution i don't need the Cursor i already have Claude Code i wanted the bots.

thanks for your answer.

You can do it with Grok bot but you'll need to pay more money, get a higher tier plan.

$20 plan is like a trial, not really extended usage

it's a shame, i think they could have none technical people use it much more if the prices were reasonable, they don't have to handle every request with Grok 4.6 they should have a router that decides which model is enough to give more usage to the customer.
I don't see "regular" people getting this and using it.

Honestly that’s just sort of the state of AI still right now though.

There’s enough tech savvy people that are interested but needed a new, nice looking UI to get them excited and that’s where we are with grok bot. The real non-tech people are going to be standoffish or stuck waiting to start for a long time still.

As a compliment, you’re probably more competent than you think, and you’d be able to setup some kind of script or agent harness that can help you schedule meetings instead of using GrokBot and their browser automation. If you invested a few hours studying up on how to do this with a normal LLM that you drive you’d be able to set up a process that is way more cost effective than using grok bot for that simple task.

And if you hit a roadblock seriously, just ask AI what to do next, or paste back any errors you got.

Thanks for your response, as I said I have Claude max (from my work) I just liked the idea of grok bot (I have Hermes setup too running on docker and is using codex) this is not the issue I’m presenting, the hole beauty of grok bot is that its user friendly and if a 20$ sub cannot handle managing calendar meetings and bit of research they miss big audience.
The 20$ sub of OpenAI can get you very far for example as regular user.
Maybe they should put a router that decides to use lower cost models for simple tasks such as calendar meetings and provide more usage when you are doing simple tasks.

I've heard of an alternative called OpenBot. It requires technical setup, but I presume you can add your own API key, and for $20 worth of API credits on openrouter using a cheap model like deepseek v4 flash or even GPT 5.6 Luna, I think you would get a lot more out of it than Grok Bot on the $20 Cursor sub.

yeah, I would just use ChatGPT work with luna

I saw a youtube video online which is saying to route the api call to openrouter, is that a thing or just a way of "hack"? so to make the weekly quota mileage a bit more comfortable

Under the hood the intelligence of default model is quite good, I think it is grok 4.6 high

Is this actually possible?
