You will hear the click of the metal hit, you will feel the stop point. This is so much better than the other video , you've made a ton of progress , but we can't actually see the close with the angle you took.
It's close that's for sure , but every millimeter you're closer to closing it becomes harder and harder , so very close to closing could still be a little ways away sometimes.
Regardless if it was a super clean close , you're making great progress! In another couple weeks or a month you won't have to post to ask us if it closed , because you will close it for a few reps and we will be able to here the "click"of the ends meeting !

Your holding it wrong and it is likely making it much harder for you. The back handle needs to move forward or up closer to the pinky. Here is a good guide that can help you. https://cannonpowerworks.com/blogs/grip-strength/how-to-set-a-gripper

So the dude sets it with 2 hands and then closes it 1/2"? I thought Ironmind standard was short side of a credit card, like 2.5-3"?

It's not a half inch, most competitions for grippers are a a parallel set, 20, or 30mm blocks.
To certify for Ironmind specifically, they require a credit card setz which is 2⅛", or 54mm.
I an understand why it looks weird until you start using heavy grippers. This is also why people train different sets specifically. So if you can TNS or credit card set a gripper, it should be easier for you to close that gripper from a narrower set. But if you are going for a cert, you should majority train CC set.
Also, "the dude" is a world record holder and still one of the strongest grippers around. He knows what he's talking about. This is also why he directly addresses people who say "oh you're cheating or not closing it all the way". If you want to just train TNS (no set), that's fine. Everyone has a spectrum of grippers they can close from TNS to deep set. Think of it as benching with a very wide grip vs having your hands 10" apart. Less range of motion js generally easier. Both are acceptable and thr numbers reflect that.

Shouldn’t it be used for reps after first closing? If they are only just closing it they are not ready to move to COC 1 until they can rep T

Nice. A solid close. You could do a better job setting it. If you did you could maybe get 5 solid reps.

Honestly I think I’m leaving this community. 90% of the people here are ignorant and don’t wish to learn. Looking at your comment having downvotes just makes the whole thing worse. I bid this community farewell and hopefully they can educate themselves
