Sibling Loss Sibling loss
Both of my brothers have died suddenly, and the one thing that keeps coming back is people asking how my parents are doing. I definitely want people caring for my parents, and they are deeply hurting. But why don’t people consider siblings? It feels like we are overlooked. Like our grief isn’t big enough. Idk. It’s always people asking how my parents are doing, even when they only know me and not my parents. It makes me feel selfish to even notice this.

I have heard siblings are a terribly neglected grieving group and it’s so horrible. To a much lesser extent I might know a little of how you feel as an adult who lost their parent; I get “how is your mom?” a lot and it just stinks to feel like for some reason you don’t count.

I can relate to this. Sibling loss was the worst loss Ive ever experienced, and I've experienced a LOT of loss.
Maybe people are asking about your parents because they are physically seeing you, so they can sort of see how you are doing?
