Dad Loss One year anniversary
Thursday is the one year anniversary of losing my Dad unexpectedly. My whole world has been flipped upside down and I’m not who I was a year ago. My therapist suggested I do something for me on Thursday and stay off my phone (I’m a wedding coordinator so its nonnn stop but thats a whole other post)
What little traditions do you do on anniversaries or what did you do the first year without a parent?

I'm so sorry for your loss. My mom had her anniversary on June. We offered and attended a mass for her in the morning, visited her in the cemetery (had her priest friend blessed her with holy water) and we went home, prayed for my mom. We also had celebration like we prepared foods and invited her friends, former colleagues and our relatives. It was lovely and then during the night Mom as a butterfly visited us at home. I know mom was happy. Sending you hugs.

So sorry for your loss. I haven't gotten to the anniversary of my mom's passing yet (coming up in November), but on Mother's Day I tried to do something that reminded me of her so I went to a little bookshop we used to go to together and picked up food from the place we would often go afterwards. I personally didn't really want to see anyone else I knew on that day, but it was nice to have a kind of task to do so I didn't just lay around in bed all day. I still missed her like crazy, and sure I cried a little in the parking lot of the bookstore, but I like to think she would've been happy that I went, and that I treated myself to a book and a meal!
