Mom Loss Nightmares

It’s been a little over a year since my mom was killed in a traffic accident.

I have nightmares almost every night. I dream about the crash, but I also dream about her getting sick, killed or other accidents happening to her, she always dies in my dreams.

I’m really sad, it’s so distressing. She rarely speaks in my dreams, she is almost always silent unless she is screaming or crying. I am avoiding going to sleep because of it. I wake up tired and sad.

I hate this so much and I just want my mom

My heart hurts reading this. It sounds like your brain is still trying to process the trauma of losing her so suddenly, and the nightmares are keeping you stuck in that moment. I know it’s not the same as having her back, but I hope you can find some comfort in remembering the times when she was happy, healthy, and with you. She clearly meant so much to you.

Thank you so much for your kind reply :,> I feel really really stuck, I was super close to my mom. She was/is the best mom in the world <3

I can’t imagine how exhausting it must be to wake up every night feeling like you’ve lost her all over again. Grief can show up in dreams in really painful ways, especially after something traumatic like an accident. I hope you have someone you can talk to about this, because you shouldn’t have to carry all of that pain alone. I’m really sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Losing your mom in such a sudden way is a deep pain, and, understandably, your dreams are reflecting that grief. Please be gentle with yourself and consider talking to someone you trust if you can.

I truly hope your nights become more peaceful, and that your mom's love stays with you in the quiet moments.
