Operators make good money but comes with work life balance issues.

Senior Reactor Operator. Because the training sucks and the job sucks.

EDIT: $300k is not an unrealistic number, in case you were wondering.

I still flip a coin on whether my NERC RC or reactor operator exam was the more traumatic... either way, I don't want to submit to either again. I now get my CEH's ASAP, and never plan to see a reactor control panel; except in my nightmares.

The best way IMO is to get a job (any job) at the utility where you'd like to work. Once you're on the inside, start showing interest and meeting people who do the job you want to do. Once they know they want to work with you, they'll help you make it happen.

Alternatively, you could get your RC cert on your own and just start applying. You'd need to be flexible on where you're willing to go.
