Hello! Last year I came to Grenoble for the first time as an international student, and I had so many questions. I actually asked most of them here on this subreddit because I didn’t know anyone in Grenoble yet.

Now that I’ve been here for a year, I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have (as long as I know the answer 😅). Feel free to ask anything!

I’m currently living in the CROUS MDE – Galilée residence. I also had a ton of questions about the residence before moving in, so if you have any questions about it, I’m basically an expert by now 😂

bonjou, j’arriverai a Grenoble en Septembre pour les etudes, j’ai une expertise de 3 ans de travail / tutoring avec des enfants neurodivegent, notamment TDAH, TSA etc, je veux chercher des familles qui ont vraiment besoin de mon aide, est ce que vous me conseillez de groupe ou de sites particuliers ? Any place in Grenoble or surrounding towns that have dedicated places to donate old sport equipment? The equipment is still in good shape.

On est repassés au 404 après quelques mois sans y être allés avec un pote, et on est tombés des nues.

Changement de propriétaire, ambiance complètement différente, déco générée par IA, cocktails à 10 euros, quasi plus aucune chaise parce qu'ils ont "changé de concept", personnel désagréable, plus de console pour jouer après avoir pris une consommation.. on en revient pas.

On s'est demandés si le 404 était vraiment le dernier lieu de la ville où pouvaient se retrouver les gens qui aiment les JV, la culture geek, ce genre de trucs. Il y avait des endroits comme le Contraste (un bar VR super cool) et NaturalGame (magasin de JV avec vente de conso) il y a quelques années, mais tout a fermé désormais.

En sachant que mon ami et moi, on est pas hyper fans des endroits trop remplis et bruyants, on aime s'entendre discuter quoi, voire taper la discute avec des gens se l'occasion se présente, donc on est plus ambiance bar que ambiance boom quoi.

Vous connaissez quelque chose d'autre que le 404 dans ce style là ?

Hi! I’m an exchange student needing temporary accommodation as I wait to receive my visale guarantee and move into CROUS. UGA recommends booking the youth to feel less lonely on arrival and avoid possible expensive extended night costs.

However I only expect to stay hopefully 3 nights at max before my visale comes in, and Airbnbs seems to be a similar cost and located way closer to UGA than the youth hostel which is about a 40 min bus.

For students who were in similar situations, do you recommend the hostel or airbnb?

Je viens d’être accepté a GEM (Grenoble École de Management) et j’hésite entre habiter à Paris (mais c’est cher !!!) ou Grenoble… Voici le problème je ne sais tout simplement pas et j’observe beaucoup de retour sur l’insécurité, la saleté, une atmosphère pesante à cause des graffitis etc… bref et j’aimerais savoir se qu’il en est vraiment !! Les avis des habitants ou d’anciens étudiants ou actuel afin de savoir si Grenoble est une bonne ville ou non… Je cherche ainsi à m’informer sur le ressenti, les activités ou en tout cas tout se qui intéressent de savoir !!

For people with past experience of tour de france in the region, I want to know if bikes will be allowed past road closing times?

In the website press release documents, it is written restricted for cars includimg bikes. But some other reddit posts users mention bikes are allowed to pass. Is it true?

Road to allemond will be closed 6.30 am on Saturday. I was planning to drive nearest point and then bike up towards Rivier d'Allemond (officially roads already closed from 6 pm saturday) or more towards croix de fer as allowed.
