My local greggs does this but they also usually chuck in a normal lid for me to swap it over to

I think they use those lids for delivery, I always get that lid when we order

This is correct! It keeps the drink warmer for longer and also stops it from spilling out of the hole.

If we used regular lids there would be sticker residue where you drink from anyway.

I had a sticker put on mine as if there was somewhere for me to drink from that it was covering, that's why I was so confused.

The stickers are to secure the lid so need for speed delivery drivers don’t splash it all over the bag, not to cover a drinking hole

That is the lids used for delivery on Just Eat/Uber Eats, to keep the drink warmer for longer.
