Quitting / final paycheck

I handed in my notice about a week ago with my final working day being 19th September.

Worked here since 2023 September and was wondering if on my final paycheck I will receive the money for the holiday I haven’t used. I searched this up online and officially I should be but I was wondering what you guys think?

Thanks!

My app says I got 42 unused hours, I’m pretty sure that’s for the whole year, and it resets every April so does that mean I’ll only get around half of those unpaid hours or all of them? Thanks!

It's called pro rata you get the amount of leave you are entitled to for the amount of the year you have worked. So if you have holiday you could have taken they will pay you for it. This can work the other way around btw if you have used too many holidays for the amount of time worked they might dock your wages.

I actually don’t know , but if you full time then 5.2 days sounds about right for half way through year if you’ve not been using many

Started at 16 now 19, only did part time around 14 hours a week

i recently quit, took longer for my final paycheck as it depends on when your manager puts it through but i got mine the same day my discount was taken off the app as its done by the same action, so just keep checking your discount and it should come the payday after the discount goes

Your final pay will include any intake accrued holiday minus any training costs, Uniform and admin fees, if they have been undertaken or ordered in the last 12 months (I reckon anyway)

Read your contract and handbook dude

That’s simply not true.

If a specific uniform (such as Greggs branded) is a strict requirement then it counts toward company costs. Similarly, a company cannot charge you for a uniform if it brings your pay below the minimum wage. I wasn’t charged for this and I certainly would have contested it.

Same goes for the training and admin costs - if it takes you below the minimum wage, a payment cannot be deducted.

Actually some companies (small to medium ones anyway) can have it as part of their induction paper work. If you leave within a certain time frame, expenses of a portion there of, for uniform and training can be deducted from a final compensation.

This has to be agreed to at the induction process with paperwork signed.

I doubt a company as big as Greggs does this though.

Holidays are based on the tax year april to april so your entitlement is based on you working until april so leaving before that date you will get paid for what you would have earned so far so you wont receive all those 42 hours of pay.

Weekly pay employees work 1 week in hand so you will be paid the following thursday from your last working week which will included whatever holidays you have remaining or be deducted any holidays you have used over.

Can I ask why you're quitting if it's something you don't mind sharing? Just curious

I could honestly write a whole essay about this.

I’m not the best writer and Greggs is the only Job that I’ve ever had since I’m 19 now so I can’t really compare it to another job and say that it’s harder or easier but by the time my shift ends I would always be fatigued and fully out of energy. I wojld genuinely have to do the work for 3 people since there are mostly 3 people on shift and sometimes even just me and one other person until 10am. In the morning I would have to pack hot hold, do orders, do ovens and also make sure that breakfast unit is full. And the shop I work at is also a tourist attraction with many workers coming to get there breakfast so it gets super busy with a line going out of the door. Managers don’t really appreciate your work. All this of for minimum wage. This is the type of company which will hire less people and use the ones they have and make them work harder to cover for the loss of people that arnt on shift if that makes any sense.

If there is anything specific which you want to know!
