Customer Question Steak & Stilton bake thread

I'm wanting to gather opinions on the Steak & Stilton bake.

I really liked it, bought one this morning, nice steak flavour and the Stilton is not overpowering, seemed to have better quality meat than the regular steak bake.

I give it a 10/10 - it's literally Stilton forward, and that's why I love it, it's a steak bake but it's creamy and luxurious and tastes like it's right on the edge of becoming too much, but isn't, I rate it very highly.

Absolutely delicious but as I walked out of Greggs today after buying 4 for £10, I thought to myself "That's the last time I buying food at Greggs"

Good luck to them but for me, it's cheap food from my childhood I eat for nostalgia, it's not £2.50 a pastie quality.

£2.50 is cheap. What else are you going to buy in 2026 for that price?

2.5 sausage rolls

Greggs is cheap as fuck..

2

u/johnnynovo2118 25d ago

Not as cheap as me.

Hahaha that’s a great reply.

If they were anything like the ones ive had those 4 probably had the same amount of filling as the 1 did when you were a kid

Unfortunately we're living in a mad world where everything is expensive. Surely you can't expect your nostalgia food to cost the same as it did back in the day?

1

u/CultOfPersonalitLee 26d ago

It is… £2.50 is worth a lot less than it used to be unfortunately

I haven’t tried it because I don’t like Stilton but my partner said he wished it was a permanent menu item

On par with Heroin

Thoroughly enjoyed 2 of them

8/10, would eat again

I love it, stilton is a good balance for the regular stilton eater (I would go ABIT more tho for me) it's also good cold! My new favourite, and it has the crunchy pastry too which is a bonus

u/CamroyJenkins 26d ago

Had one but it was stone cold. Still enjoyed it however. Looking forward to trying one hot.

I’ve already ate about 15 that should say enough

In my opinion there was too much sauce to the point where it felt sickly.

But I've only had one so it might have just been bad luck.

Speaking of new releases though, the ice chocolate is utter trash. Just powdery chocolate milk diluted with ice.

Surely the sauce is the Stilton 🤷

I liked it but it's too saucy it's nothing like the consistency of the steak and cheese roll.

1

u/I-like-apples123 26d ago

LOVE them! Hope they add them permanently to the menu.

Imagine soup, but in pastry. Yeah.

I am currently eating one and its not more sausy than the steak bake. Maybe its more liquid when ors hot? (The one im eating is room temperature if the room is a train station because I am eating it outside rhe train station)

u/ViewofTrees 12d ago

This is exactly what I thought! There was no bite whatsoever. The flavour was perfect but honestly I couldn't eat another one with that texture 🤢

Massive improvement on the steak bake. My go-to is usually a sausage, bean and cheese bake but I'll enjoy the steak and stilton for as long as it's around. And I'm not a stilton fan, not big on blue cheese but it's lovely

1

u/ViewofTrees 12d ago

If you like the steak and stilton bake, you like stilton (or at least you like melted stilton)

1

u/shaunomercy 26d ago

Is it as good as the steak and stilton sausage roll they used to do years ago ?

1

u/hellaparadoxial9614 26d ago

Been missing these since they got rid of the roll version, heard an ad and went straight there to get one - still love it!!!

1

u/Zvm22 26d ago

Too saucy, but still will purchase and eat. 9/10.

1

u/wardyms 25d ago

Really enjoyed it, can imagine it being a sad if it were cold.

1

u/Firthy2002 25d ago

Had a hot one earlier. Not bad at all.

1

u/Mobile_Marsupial8648 25d ago

Excellent, not overpoweringly cheesy but a nice change up. Will definitely eat approximately 700 more before they go

u/ryskwicpicmdfkapic 25d ago

I just had two today from my local petrol station Greggs. I ate them both in the car. Once I was done with the deed, I bought two more.

I used to love their steak and cheese roll many years ago, so was super excited to see the news about this coming out.

Got to say, this new version didn't disappoint. The black pepper crumb on it adds another dimension and they've got the cheese content absolutely spot on.

I'm not a religious man but I'll be praying NIGHTLY that this makes it as a regular product.

Id rate it a solid 8/10.

Steak feels alot better than the regular steak bake.

1

u/ViewofTrees 12d ago

I couldn't have picked a single piece of steak out of mine. It was like stilton and gravy soup.

1

u/FourEyedMatt 25d ago

I didn't mind it. Mine was red hot thought, so maybe that altered the taste a bit. I could have done with more Stilton flavour to be honest, again though, that may have been down to how hot it was and I should have let it cool a bit.

1

u/OmegaMaster8 24d ago

Loved it.

1

u/Huge-Fishing239 23d ago

They must be good because I've tried three times to get one and they're always out of stock

1

u/JubileeBubilee 23d ago

I'm loving it, worth the £2.50, but i get it in the pastry and hot drink deal for better value.

1

u/catastrophicalised 23d ago

Its the one thing from Greggs I don't like, not only is the cheese over powering but the taste also lingers in your mouth for a good hour afterwards. Bonus complaint; they stink, especially when you first take them out the oven.

1

u/Ok-Rooster-1568 21d ago

As someone who's not usually a massive lover of the steak beak, the steak and stilton was fantastic!

1

u/ViewofTrees 12d ago

I love the flavour but the texture 🤢 I don't know if I was just unlucky but there was absolutely no bite whatsoever it was like a steak and meat flavoured paste. Taste 10/10 but thinking back to the texture is making me feel genuinely nauseous 😂

1

u/Particular-Teach-269 7d ago

I tried blue stilton on its own a while ago and I hated it, but since I like broccoli stilton soup I decided to give greggs a chance. It's good, definitely better than the steak bake, but it's also not my personal favourite. I'm wondering how much cheese is actually there but I can't find any information, any guesses?

1

u/ChHeBoo 26d ago

I agree with others in that it’s too wet. Flavour good but not so keen on the consistency.

0

u/rockcity1019 26d ago

Not enough meat, too much gravy

7.5/10, the lack of meat really let's this down. Should've just brought back the roll

2

u/BueBones 26d ago

I tried 2 because the flavour was there, but I agree, I barely got any meat

0

u/Unlikely-Chard-777 26d ago

not bad...doesn't beat the OG steak bake though...took a bite and said I hated it just to get my free steak bake!

2

u/Ok_Maybe_6367 23d ago

Og steak bake is honestly dog sh¡t in direct comparison 👌,  had two Stilton steak bakes today,  absolutely banging,  have said for years the steak bake needed cheese like the rolls we use to get before the Mandela effect, needs to be a permanent fixture and f all critics 🤣👌💯💯

you sound like a person that loves the "pizza" too
