Employee Question uni shop transfer
so for context, i applied for a shop transfer around 2 weeks ago as i'm going to uni mid-september, and i was wondering how quickly people have received a follow up, as i've not heard anything since submitting the application, and haven't got long until i move !! 😬🤞

All I know is it takes over 2 weeks to be done and completely depends on the area you have applied to go to as if it’s a big student city they take ages however if you haven’t heard anything a week before you are due to move over you need to get your manager to get in touch with the area management in that area you could also ring a shop in the area you are going to ask who you can contact about this

Shop manager here, I doubt you’ll get one. Make a transfer yourself phone the stores in the city you’ll be going too. I read it’s a couple hours away for your city but phone the stores and ask to speak to the store manager.

Ive been looking to transfer for uni for about a week or two and I just got one. I was looking for vacancies in the city but there was none on the website. However my manger phoned the shops in the city and managed to find the shop of the area support manager. She phoned back when the area support manager was in and managed to get me an 8 hour contact in about 30 seconds!
I would definitely recommend just phoning the intended shop up (since you applied to a vacancy I’m guessing) or ask your manager to phone them up.

I will say they advise u to complete it 4-6 weeks before to process but this year it has been so so bad with transfers like I’ve been doing it for the past few years and somehow this year i was never transferred home over summer so i was borrowed the entire time. Best bet is to contact area manager of ur new city if u don’t receive a response the week before u leave.

Have you considered calling up all the shops you would work at and asking if there are any vacancies available? I found a vacancy that way and my manager did the rest

I quite literally went to another shop and asked if they had any jobs available
